We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a maternity leave backfill position where you will play a critical role in overseeing our financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and month-end closing processes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking for a high-impact, short-term engagement within a supportive and dynamic accounting department.

Reporting to the Controller this role will perform the following functions:

• Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including ensuring data transferred from the Company’s loan management system (Shaw Spectrum) is reflected accurately in its General Ledger system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
• Reviewing and posting of journal entries.
• Processing the daily EFT payments.
• Maintaining the accounting records for the Deposits program including; preparing and reviewing the daily integration, updating daily the deposit inventory list, and posting the month end journal entries for accruals, commissions and other AJEs as needed.
• Preparing the daily reconciliation and cash transfer for the Trust.
• Assist in the completion of month end duties, including completion of key working papers to support compiling the monthly financial statement package for the Trust.
• Preparing and uploading materials to headquarters on a monthly/quarterly and annual basis.
• Assisting in the review and documentation of workflows to identify and implement opportunities for efficiency and/or automation while maintaining a high standard of controls.
• Completing presentations and financial reporting packages required by the Company.
• Providing coverage for transactional processing as required.
• Preparation of the monthly tax provision for the Trust.
• Review and update accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline.
• Professional designation (i.e. CPA or equivalent)

Experience, Skills & Competencies

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong background in general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, and working knowledge of the full accounting cycle.
• Proficient computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and SQL is an asset.
• Working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Query.

• Financial analysis and interpretation.
• Audit preparation and support.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
• Requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
• Requires sustained concentration, frequent task-switching, and the ability to manage interruptions, particularly during audit periods or regulatory reporting cycles.
• Occasional extended hours may be needed during month-end or reporting deadlines.
• No travel required.
