Description complète du poste

ABOUT CARMA HOSPITALITY

Carma Hospitality is a Montreal-based multi-concept hospitality group operating a growing portfolio of food & beverage brands across quick-service, café, and fine dining segments. Our active concepts include Ciccio’s Sandwich, Rosie’s Burgers (10-unit franchise expansion across Greater Montreal), Nama Omakase (14-seat Franco-Japanese omakase) and many more. We are building a best-in-class operations infrastructure to support rapid and disciplined growth.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a sharp, operationally fluent Financial Controller to own the financial backbone of Carma Hospitality. This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to the founder and visibility across all business units. You will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, franchise compliance, payroll oversight, and supporting strategic decisions around site selection, lease negotiations, and new concept launches.

This is not a passive bookkeeping role — we need someone who can read a P&L and immediately identify where the business is bleeding or gaining, communicate findings clearly, and drive accountability across a multi-unit operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own full-cycle accounting across all Carma Hospitality entities (AP/AR, bank reconciliations, month-end close)• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements, P&Ls, and variance analysis for each business unit• Manage and oversee payroll across approximately 12 payroll cycles — coordinating with our external accountant• Ensure compliance with Quebec provincial tax obligations (QST, GST, source deductions)• Liaise with franchise partners (Happy Belly Food Group, Rosie’s Burgers) on royalty reporting, financial audits, and franchisor compliance requirements• Support lease and supplier negotiations with financial modeling and cost analysis• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and KPI dashboards by concept• Review and flag key provisions in supplier and distribution agreements with financial implications• Coordinate with external accountants and legal advisors as needed• Build financial infrastructure to support scaling from 3 to 10+ locations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA designation (or working toward) strongly preferred• 3–6 years of experience in accounting or financial control, ideally in hospitality, food & beverage, retail, or multi-unit franchising• Solid understanding of Quebec tax law, payroll legislation, and QST/GST compliance• Experience working within franchise systems is a significant asset• Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or equivalent) and Excel/Google Sheets• Strong written and verbal communication in both French and English• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple entities simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines• Comfortable in a fast-moving, founder-led environment with evolving priorities

NICE TO HAVE

  • Prior experience with restaurant POS systems (Square, Veloce, Lightspeed)• Familiarity with food cost analysis, recipe costing, or COGS management• Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, or M&A due diligence

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience• Direct access and collaboration with the founder on strategic initiatives• Exposure to a diverse portfolio of hospitality concepts — from QSR to fine dining omakase• A dynamic, entrepreneurial culture that moves fast and rewards initiative• Growth potential as Carma scales
