Overview

An Assistant Store Manager (ASM) is the second-in-command, partnering with the Store Manager to drive daily operations, lead sales teams, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. Primary responsibilities include supervising staff, managing inventory, executing visual merchandising directives, and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead store operations, manage staff, and enhance customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, retail management experience, and excellent communication abilities. As an integral part of our management team, you will support the store's growth through effective sales strategies, team development, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure smooth functioning and high customer service standards.
  • Supervise and motivate staff, including recruiting, training, and developing team members to achieve sales goals and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manage merchandising efforts by implementing pricing strategies, product placement, and promotional displays to maximize sales.
  • Handle POS transactions, cash handling, and bookkeeping tasks accurately while ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Oversee payroll processing, scheduling, and time management for staff to optimize staffing levels.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and facilitate training & development initiatives for team members.
  • Implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones through promotional activities.
  • Monitor inventory purchasing and stock levels to meet customer demand while controlling costs.
  • Ensure store compliance with safety regulations and company policies; recognize potential safety hazards.
  • Utilize strong organizational skills to manage administrative duties such as budgeting, pricing adjustments, and record keeping.
  • Foster excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally via phone etiquette and in-person interactions.
  • Lead by example in supervising sales activities, ensuring achievement of sales targets through effective leadership and communication skills.

Skills

  • Proven experience in retail management or store supervision with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in negotiation and customer service.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively.
  • Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff.
  • Proficient in POS systems, cashiering, bookkeeping, and basic math for financial accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience with merchandising, pricing strategies, marketing initiatives, and sales management.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with team management expertise.
  • Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining a professional demeanor with phone etiquette.
