Job Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Kitchen Assistant/Cook, where your energy and passion for food will help create memorable dining experiences. In this vital role, you will support food preparation, cooking of a range of meals and snacks for freeze drying. Your dedication to food safety and quality will ensure we maintain our position as s leading Canadian producer of gourmet freeze dried meals . This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in the food industry while contributing to a vibrant team committed to excellence.

Duties

  • Assist with food preparation by chopping, slicing, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards
  • Cook meals according to established facility procedures efficiently, maintaining consistency and presentation quality and traceability documentation is completed
  • Support food handling procedures to ensure safety and hygiene standards are upheld at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen stations, utensils, equipment, and storage areas in compliance with facility standard operating procedures
  • Follow proper food safety protocols during meal preparation and storage to prevent contamination
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods
  • Receiving ingredients, logging batches, packaging finished product and maintaining all stages of facility traceability system,

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods preferred
  • Familiarity with food handling safety standards and sanitation practices. Ideally have current Foodsafe 1
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning and growth in the food industry
  • Basic physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform kitchen tasks effectively

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
