Job Posting: Intermediate Project Manager

Company: Emcee Construction & Management Ltd.
Location: Edmonton, AB
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent About Emcee

Emcee Construction & Management Ltd. is an Edmonton-based general contractor and construction manager delivering commercial, institutional, building envelope, infrastructure, renovation, and tenant improvement projects across Alberta. We pride ourselves on being a company that supports our people, maintains a culture of open doors, and delivers high quality work we can be proud of.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who wants meaningful project ownership, direct access to leadership, and a supportive, collaborative team environment without unnecessary corporate layers. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys staying close to the work, building lasting relationships, and helping deliver well-run projects from award through closeout.

The Opportunity

At Emcee, Project Managers are trusted to lead. You will work closely with ownership, senior leadership, site supervisors, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep projects organized, profitable, safe, and moving forward.

You will have support from leadership, accounting, estimating, safety, and field staff. The right person will be organized, accountable, practical, and comfortable managing the full project picture.

Responsibilities

· Manage assigned projects from award through closeout.

· Review contracts, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and project requirements.

· Coordinate with site supervisors to plan work, sequence activities, resolve field issues, and maintain momentum.

· Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, drawing updates, change management, commitments, and closeout documentation.

· Coordinate clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities.

· Prepare, review, and issue subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and project correspondence.

· Track project costs, forecasts, billings, changes, and profitability.

· Review subcontractor pricing and support clear, complete, and fair scopes of work.

· Attend and lead project meetings and ensure action items are documented and followed up.

· Plan procurement, identify long-lead items early, and keep schedules realistic and current.

· Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and professional follow-through.

· Support the field in maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and respectful jobsite culture.

· Drive proper closeout, including deficiencies, occupancy requirements, turnover documents, warranties, manuals, and final billing.

Required Experience and Qualifications

· 3+ years of experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, and/or envelope general contracting project management on projects up to $10M. Project coordinator and site supervisor experience will also be considered.

· Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and subtrade coordination.

· Experience managing multiple active projects or single larger complex projects.

· Practical knowledge of procurement, RFIs, submittals, change management, cost tracking, progress billing, and closeout.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients, consultants, trades, suppliers, and field staff.

· Organized, accountable, calm under pressure, and able to follow through without being micromanaged.

· Valid driver's licence and ability to visit project sites as required.

Additional Experience and “Nice-to-have”

· Gold Seal, PMP, CET, or Red Seal is an asset but not mandatory.

· Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office is considered an asset.

· Experience managing various contract types, including construction management, construction manager at risk, and design build considered a significant asset.

Education and Designations

A diploma, degree, ticket, or certification in construction management, engineering technology, architectural technology, project management, or a related field is an asset. Equivalent hands-on construction experience is highly valued and will also be considered.

What Emcee Offers

· Competitive salary based on experience.

· Employer paid health and dental benefits with access to employee discount programs, employee and family assistance program, and more.

· Flexible paid vacation, with additional paid personal and sick leave.

· Stable, long-term work with an established 30 year Edmonton contractor that prioritizes building morale, culture, and an environment people want to grow in.

· Direct access to decision-makers and senior leadership with an open door policy.

· Regularly updated technology and software program to ensure you have the tools you need to be effective.

· Varied commercial and institutional projects with real responsibility, authority, and visible impact.

· A practical, respectful workplace that values communication, follow-through, and work-life balance.

· Regular company-wide events, including community outreach, summer barbecues, golf tournaments, holiday parties and more

· Training, professional development, and career growth opportunities; we put emphasis on promoting from within.

Who Will Succeed Here

You will do well at Emcee if you take ownership, communicate early, understand both the paperwork and the field reality, and treat people well while still holding the project team accountable. We are looking for someone who cares about delivering good projects, maintaining strong relationships, and being part of a smaller team where their contribution matters.
