Whitecap Resources Inc. (“Whitecap”) is an oil-weighted growth company that pays a monthly cash dividend to its shareholders. Since January 2021, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 60,000 boe/d to approximately 160,000 boe/d and employee headcount to 550, primarily across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Including our valued contract staff, we are accountable for approximately 900 staff.

Job Title: Operations Engineer

Location: Calgary

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting to: Operations Manager – East & West Saskatchewan

Position Overview:

The Operations Engineer works within a multi-disciplinary, asset-based team environment focused on Whitecap's Viking Assets. The role requires strong project management skills to execute capital programs efficiently and optimize our core assets. The position is Calgary-office based and involves travel to areas of responsibility.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Production:

  • Optimize and evaluate regional production data
  • Identify workover and facility projects to optimize production &/or reduce OPEX
  • Conduct OPEX analysis for monthly accruals
  • Provide monthly crude oil marketing forecasts
  • Liaise with 3rd parties for processing terms and identifying bottlenecks

Completion:

  • Design and program all completion and workover activities
  • Assess and design subsurface integrity as per regulations and IRP’s.
  • Coordinate and monitor field activities, including fracture stimulation treatments
  • Optimize well design and cost control

Drilling:

  • Project manage locations from inception to execution
  • Liaise with our drilling engineer to optimize well design and cost control
  • Equip/Facility:
  • Design and coordinate artificial lift installations
  • Liaise with our Facility Engineer for project design and cost control

Primary Qualifications and Skills:

  • BSc Eng. preferably with 5-10 years experience
  • Registered P.Eng with APEGA
  • Self-starter with a solid production and completions background
  • Drilling and facility experience is beneficial but not a requirement
  • Strong communication skills and works well in a team environment
  • Must be able to work in Canada.
