Completed a six year work adventure with the company just after flipping from Genivar to WSP - a good move to deflect the Quebec scandal. Came to the firm full of energy to grow the aggregate services component in Ontario. Supported in the beginning. Manager left for greener pastures (can't blame him). New manager (s) were terrible. Bullies best describes. No vision. No support. No thoughts for mentoring younger staff, which is one reason I came to the firm - to mentor younger staff and pass along my skills and extensive client base. Bean counters with no people skills. Saw many departures of good young talent. Management does not care. Think twice before joining this firm.

My colleagues are very supportive, caring and fun to work with. Collaboration is the key part of my job. Good people within our company office and we know each other well along the years of working.

Because it is a global company with many employees, you tend to be just a statistic in the main management, holding position tinkering with employee excel sheets very far away from our office.

Because of pandemic, it is a great excuse for the CEO to correct the finances by laying off, including myself to improve the cash flow report. And the executives are very proud of their report gaining positive figures, that they even post in social media. Congratulations!


I love my job but I don't fall in love in the company because I already knew that anytime....... the company will stop loving you.

This company grow through many acquisitions and leadership teams changed over as part of the acquisition agreements making it very difficult for employees to keep reinventing the culture every couple of years.

The management is quite poor, the team doesn't know to delegate work and bring a new hire on board. The training and team is very talented but poor in managing the sub staff

Mon expérience avec WSP est excellente dans le domaine de surveillance de chantier. Il y’avait une très bonne relation de travail avec les intervenants sur le chantier et une très bonne coordination avec l’ensemble des collaborateurs, surtout le chef de projet avec lequel on est en communication constante.

Worst work experience of my professional career. Senior management doesn't have the faintest idea about what is actually going on and they don't want to know. The staff is in constant fear of being let go. Weekly layoffs affect moral.

It's just like any major company - at the end of the day you are just a number and focus is on bottom line.
The benefits package is good, salaries are on the lower end of the scale but generally run in tune with Industry standard.

WSP is a fantastic company for engineers and technicians. WSP is always working on diversity, people values on their communication. At the same time for years I have been working at WSP I have seen multiple cases of disrespect, abuse, discrimination and harassment with supporting team as administrative, finance, accounting. Fundamental teams.
If you want a job security only say yes, do not speak up.
Each business line, each manager has their own guideline disregarding company’s guidelines available for all employees.

I did not find them appreciative of the my ideas as an employee about their mentor-ship.
I did not find the management trust worthy with my concerns talks about my career future.
I did not see much of space for progress and learning for an EIT engineer like myself.

I found them the least willing to appreciate my thriving and ambitious opinions and dreams for my career.

I did not find them supportive on my career progress plans like taking extra related certificates and extend my ability to be a professional engineer in the near future.

most of my work as an EIT engineer was involved with plan drawings and auto cad drawings from the scratch and not with engineering simulations and calculations.

There was not a clear agenda on helping me with understanding the company work and projects and how to conduct a project from the start point.

About HR, It had been 2 weeks that I was working there and they had not asked for my direct deposit information yet or my SIN. I had to call and email myself several times to provide them with those information.

I did not find my job position secured.

* Most of the people are Friendly.
* In my opinion, if you are not learning then you should change your line or field of working. Because, you won't enjoy your work, so for me every day is learning either technical or personal.

WSP leadership allows employees to explore the best in them selves and the work life balance is the best I’ve seen. We are accountable for our work but not having to be chained to set hours.

Employees are given the opportunity to be their best, but are not given the opportunity to advance depending on a “diverse” range of characteristics.
Which management surprisingly makes quite obvious.

This is a company that sells technical expertise, but is severely and critically hobbled by a bloated and relatively uneducated corporate structure that doesn't understand what technical products they sell, and that sacrifices quality for weekly, monthly, and quarterly margins, and do not care about staff except for weekly percentages. Non-technical people with MBAs, limited licensees, and others with no technical background call the shots, and try to do engineering by proxy, often forcing the professionals into sticky situations and ethical dilemmas. Most egregious is when technical staff explain why something is not possible or comes with huge risk, yet managers will make a "business decision" to proceed, and put all responsibility back onto the professional...!

Many good coworkers can be found, but management destroys any pride in your work, as even managers will try to dictate technical reporting in order to please "important" clients. Anyone experienced in consulting at all will know that monstrous chargeabilities come at a cost, cannot be maintained except for very short periods, and that they ebb and flow with the market and economy... but apparently, nobody told corporate that! The result is horrible attrition of experienced technical staff (a must in a technical company), replaced by low-level and under-experienced newbies.

Money is decent, IF you push hard for it... but simply not worth it.


Avoid at all costs.
