Cool and chill employees
Sales Associate (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC22 janvier 2020
I'm not sure if the other reviews on here are from the Vancouver Duty Free at YVR Airport but the people there are nice and I enjoy working there alot. The employees are nice and friendly, I get help from co-workers when I ask, they have training dates on liquor and product knowledge. It is a great experience overall and I recommend a job position to a friend or anyone in need of a job.

Flexible job to work at
Terminal Delivery Team Merchandiser (Ancien employé) –  Richmond, BC4 mars 2019
Good place to work at, management and HR team was great and helpful. A flexible job, gives an option to work early mornings, afternoons and evenings. This job gives you an opportunity to provide customer service to a wide range of travelers who were coming through the duty free stores.

World Duty Free Group, keep in mind that this review was written with the best intentions.
sales associate (Employé actuel) –  Richmond, BC22 novembre 2018
Company values and cultures have great intentions in mind to grow and learn with others. The key word here is "Intentions". The company simply cannot act on this good intent because decision makers are blinded by the walls of the upstairs office and do not understand the business as they should. The problems at World Duty Free comes in the many forms of procedures and trying to accomplish professionalism in a messy, sloppy way. There are many online tracking forms and reconciliation forms online but many of them are not used other than by the person who made it. The company offers advancement to hardworking individuals but lacks incentives for people who quietly succeed in their day to day work. They hardly get recognition for their contributions while the company invests a great deal of money into benefits taken advantage of by others who have the time and freedom to do so. This includes a "celebration day" that has the company investing a large amount of money into renting out entertainment facilities, treating lunch and paying employees for a day out. I would love to see a different approach of rewarding employees by incentivizing successful contributions to the workplace instead of this "everybody gets an award for participating" because in actuality, not everyone is as dedicated as others. Some other areas of company costs that do not affect the day to day employee who works hard are; Massage Day at the office, Sun run registration paid for by company, various committees in which some meet during work hours that include but are not limited to Charity, Toastmasters, event  plus... planning, and coffee time with leader that promotes direct supervisors of a team to treat for coffee. Many hardworking employees cannot take time out to take advantage of these opportunities while those that may not be as deserving are rewarded for doing sub-par work. I would like to see an improvement on the financial budgeting of these "benefits" by allocating more funds to procure supplies regardless of which company is footing the bill. Too many times have we voiced the needs of the business only to be met by "If the other company pays for it." My words of advice would be: leave the participation awards for elementary school students and focus more on the needs of so-and-so who would be perfect for Green/Voice/Charity Committee/Toastmasters but doesn't join because they're stuck succeeding in their day-to-day work for your company.  moins
Points positifs
Company has great intentions and works like a family.
Points négatifs
Family locks kids in basement to save money while some sit upstairs practising not to say "um"

Too much favoritism
Sales Associate (Employé actuel) –  Richmond, BC14 octobre 2018
Fun environment to work in due to the variety of customer you are facing every morning day time.
however, favoritism is what makes this job bad. Morning keyholder eating a lollipop on the sales floor and talking to beauty advisor, which is not his department, when customer went on to approach, he asked the customer to look for someone else and said he was taking his break. Pretty much, most of the associates saw this happening, but manager did not address this at all, because he is one of the manager's favourite keyholder.

The job is temporary
Sale associate (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC27 septembre 2018
The hour wage is $16 per hour .Dufry is easy to fire people. Many employees kiss the key holder butt ,they can get the standard working hour for 40 hours per week. I am a male employee,my supervisors don't like to help me. The key holders and supervisors openly play favorites with members of their team and isolate themselves from they dislike. When the key holders don't like you,you must get non-stop trouble. They will make you to confuse by fact on their orders or their decision and make rumors influence all colleagues hate you . The female key holders and supervisors are fond of gifts and their friend group party . A new naive young sale associate paid $90 for a lunch with one of a female key holders. The male key holders like young girls

Bilingual Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Richmond, BC22 juillet 2018
If you don't speak Chinese, you will be treated as S.
Wage is extremely low, managements has favouritism. If you don't kiss their butt, also they will treat you as S.

It was ok
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Richmond, BC4 juin 2018
It was ok as a second job. I changed my shift from morning to night shift. Morning shift is busy, so time goes fast, but a lot of pressure as well. Night shift is slow, so really boring.

Productive work place
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Richmond, BC28 avril 2017
Very fun environment and cheerful coworkers that make every hour count at work. Learning vibe. The hardest part would be the first period which consists of the first month, which involves a ton of focus to keep up with the work pace and to learn the loopholes and policies.

Well paid but thankless.
Logistics team member (Ancien employé) –  Runnymede28 juin 2016
Unpleasant culture, hostile environment between staff and unrewarding job but a good business to work for. Doing the same thing day in and day out, easy but boring tasks, I found it hard to motivate myself. I like jobs that challenge me and test my creativity which this didn't. However, the business offers many benefits and is great to work for.

Diversity, fun and challenging with lots of opportunity to grow and exceed.
Sales Associate (Employé actuel) –  Richmond, BC10 avril 2016
Working in WDF is fun, opportunities to give your level best in terms of customer service, selling and upholding the good repute of the group. I've learned multi-tasking and pulling them off in time. The Management has been very supportive in helping the staff utilize and explore their best potentials and skills. Co-workers are fun and helping to work with - a teamwork. Hardest part is working overnight doing product cycle count in variety and extensive inventory. The most enjoyable is doing more productive tasks like product replenishment and checking proper price tags.
Points positifs
Trainings for new product knowledge or services
Points négatifs
Less opportunity to be recognized of your effort and hardwork when working on graveyard, not much family time.

Dynamic and complex environment
General Manager - 11 Luxury Stores (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC24 février 2014
Begin each week with a thorough review of the previous week's business regarding people, commercial and operations. Monday and Tuesdays are all about communicating these findings and determining priorities for the current and up and coming weeks.

Each day is dynamic as you work through business partners in HR, Commercial, Logistics, Marketing, Finance and Operations - understanding priorities and focuses within each department and be able to manage these on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.

It is a terrific environment to understand your own capabilities and how you manage the complexities of the people and the business.
Points positifs
Travel retail is exciting, fast paced and never without a task or project that needs completion - always challenging.
Points négatifs
lack of understanding of Leadership and People development
