Get a perm job asap
Cost Allocation Representative (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 30 mai 2022
Avis en vedette
L'avis le plus utile, sélectionné par Indeedwhen you start working for the board just focus on getting perm as fast as possible. the job doesn't matter just get perm, as once you're perm you can just bump people out of temp positions for the job you really want. Don't worry about working hard or meeting/exceeding your kpi's since those don't matter.

Productive And Fun Place
Project Analyst (Ancien employé) - https://www.wsib.ca/en - 17 juin 2022
Its a place to grow your career with. It is a bit slow as all govt firms are. the work culture was amazing, had the best learning time there and would recommend it

Don’t treat temp/contract staff well
Anonymous (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 5 mars 2022
Place seems great for regular employees but contract staff were excluded from group celebrations etc. and treated rudely by managers. They should ensure they are using staffing agencies that pay above minimum wage.

Beware

Points positifs
Decent pay Great benefits Pension

Office politics Heartless management and directors

Stressful place to work at. Micro-managed. Every moment of your day is monitored. Chained to desk and phone.
Customer Service (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 15 février 2022
It was a good place to work at when I first started but things went downhill fast. Upper management decided to reinvent the wheel and made working there unbearable.
Points positifs
Ok pay. Good benefits. A pension plan.
Points négatifs
Chained to desk and phone. Every moment of your day is monitored and micromanaged.

Awful
Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) - Thunder Bay, ON - 1 décembre 2021
I would never recommend anyone to work here. It was a terrible experience after my initial manager retired. WSIB as a company doesn't know up from down, and things are constantly changed for no reason. This is turn has a negative affect on clients (injured persons)

Prioritized work life balance during pandemic times
Digital Specialist (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 24 septembre 2021
Team was excellent and management always helpful in upskilling and ensuring you can do your job efficiently, working in the government systems has a lot of red tape but great benefits under the union. Advancement was not clearly laid out.
Points positifs
Inclusive team culture, work-life-balance, awesome benefits

Emplois et carrières chez WSIB
Top Heavy Organization
Contact Centre (Ancien employé) - Hamilton, ON - 2 septembre 2021
After 2 years with the board it feels misguided. The management structure seems broken and useless. Examined closely it is a waste of salary space which could be used more effectively to hire workers in departments in need that seems to struggle with high call volumes and work loads. Having a worker, manager, assistant director, then director yet dealing with smaller teams makes no sense. Most workers make their own calls. Unsure why baby sitters need baby sitters for their baby sitters and they all make $100,000.00 plus yet workers get laid off. Live and learn. Money was great, just don’t expect anything more than showing up doing your job with no room to grow at all. The union is also useless and unsure what my union dues actually went towards.
Points positifs
Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule
Points négatifs
Everything Else

An amazing summer job!
Summer Student (Employé actuel) - Toronto, ON - 6 août 2021
Great place to work! I loved the company and the work culture. Management is always there to help you and is very flexible if you are interested in pursuing something else. You will get to work with a lot of like-minded individuals who have a passion for the work that they do!
Points positifs
Set hours, great management team
Points négatifs
Slow days sometimes

Toxic workplace
Case Manager (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 26 juin 2021
I'm writing this to warn people that this workplace is very toxic. There's a reason why they are always advertising for the role of case manager. They told new hires that they have a high turnover rate. High turnover rate is never a good sign at a company. They need to be transparent and let new hires know that they must pass the 9 month probationary period. You are not formally hired until you pass 9 months of probation. A major component of moving along in the trial period is that you must pass practicum. However, passing practicum is determined by whether your trainer likes you and not necessarily based on your skill level. If your trainer doesn't like you they will fail you. There was a lot of inconsistencies with the training. Which is very frustrating when you are told different information from multiple people. No accommodations are made when you bring these issues up. Yes, the money is great but the work culture is toxic along with management.
Points positifs
Benefits, pay
Points négatifs
Heavy workload, toxic work environment

Depends on who the manager is
Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) - Hamilton, ON - 30 octobre 2020
Being a person with a disability, i told my manager the truth.she used my disability against me and fired me without any explaining, just a vague “this role is not for u” after refusing to coach me for the role. This job pays well, but the management is terrible. I was set up for faulier, my last coaching session i asked my manager for help ,she said “youre fine”
Points positifs
Good pay, good Benefits
Points négatifs
Sketchy managers

Not recommended if you have never worked for the government
Sr. Project Manager (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 24 octobre 2020
Culture rewards busy work over outcomes and performance. Year end reviews are useless. They make you believe raises are based on qualitative feelings in a moment over quantitative outcomes but at the end of the day everyone gets a raise. No penalty for poor performance. Leadership does not act on the advice they are given. If you want to accomplish something in your career this is not the place to be. Lifer employees protect their very generous retirement plan and will not consider a modern approach to solve an old problem.
Points positifs
You can sleep at your desk
Points négatifs
Not for adding wins to your resume

Great pay, great co-workers, terrible everything else
Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) - Ontario - 15 octobre 2020
Of course the government would pay well, but as a result force you to work within a system so broken that you are forced to listen to heartbreaking stories every day until you yourself break. Every day, every second so perfectly monitored they will know how long you use the bathroom. Those with the right personality could make it work, and certainly I know some who have made it a success, but not me
Points positifs
Excellent pay and benefits
Points négatifs
A broken system, high stress, very regimented

toxic place to work
Case Manager (Employé actuel) - Toronto, ON - 29 septembre 2020
toxic place to work with unrealistic work targets. they act like they care about customer experience, but with the volumes of work on your desk, all they care about is quantity over quality in every front line quality facing role. it's always about hitting targets, and if you can't, prepare to be let go during probation. they will work you like a slave, and continuously berate you if for one day you fail to meet the goals. case management is BEYOND out of control. case load is not manageable, and the job is essentially spent 24/7 on the phone. calling and begging people to go back to work, it is full of clients berating you, talking down to you and abusing you over the phone. make or break is the manager you are assigned. many love to micromanage and constantly criticize your work even if you are hitting targets. conflict among co-workers and different roles, as many are trying to pass the workload off to others rather than do it themselves. chronnically understaffed due to poor planning. many people on stress leave, retirements not adequately replaced with new staff so you continue to be bombarded with work from the desks of others. HIGH turnover rates in jobs like eligibility adjudicator and case management, because many internal candidates leave to go back to their comfortable lower level jobs because of the job security provided by the union.
Points positifs
the salaries are high, great benefits, dental, retirement, generous vacation package, good union providing job security. lots of opportunity to move internally
Points négatifs
work makes you miserable, and bleeds into your overall happiness and well being, MANY people here on stress leave and long term disability for stress, many people who are unqualified for their jobs have job security through union and are lazy, WORST HR department of all time, talent acquisition is constantly making mistakes

Entitlement Adjudicator
entitlement adjudicator (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 14 août 2020
Not a good place to start a career. The Union will not make your job secure. They just change the titles of the job and then arrange a "re-organization" lay you off and never recall you back -- after they have burned you out. Terrible office managers, some actual tyrants, and they always watch you, the more petty, the closer. They do not promote from within, full stop-- unless a relative is involved. Conflicts of interests are so common they often all but advertise same in job descriptions. Finally, every time the government changes strips...a partisan witch hunt takes place--making your job even less secure...
Points positifs
you get remembrance day off.
Points négatifs
Boring stare at a computer all day until you are disabled.

Good place to work
Business Assistant (Employé actuel) - Toronto, ON - 2 août 2020
The job is very busy and there is strong hierarchy, but the people I work with are collaborative and everyone helps in getting tasks done with quick timelines. Very inclusive.
