You will never have another job like it. Flying city to city country to country. Meeting and working with new people every time you fly. Seeing sites you never would have had otherwise.

Must be able to embrace chaos while maintaining company and guest expectation.

Learning to sleep on command as you bounce through time zones is a difficult adjustment.

Understanding the value of a minute

Definitely my dream job. If you love interacting with people, are able to handle change, enjoy providing exceptional service to others, are good with work long hours and exploring new places then this is an amazing job.
Points positifs

Worked here as a guest service ambassador, responsible for assisting guest who requires special assistance. Westjet culture is the best, we were thought to be more of a people-person but at the same time we have to follow airline regulations.
Points négatifs
Customer Service

Great and fun place to work! Would definitely recommend. Very inclusive environment, no day is ever the same so you always learn something new! It can be stressful, but almost always rewarding.

Great place to work! Fun, friendly and very challenging at times but totally worth it as a part time job, or a stater job for a student. Great way to get into the airline industry.

Like having an extended family. Look forward with working with other agents. Agents are well trained but management has to improve. Hiring of more people managers then operation managers.

After 7 years of service, you'll be working 14 hours on duty but only getting paid for 4 hours "flight time", you'll still work on-call pairings, and you'll still only make 38K. Trading pairings sounds great, but you'll lose full-time status and get your paychecks completely screwed up every single month.
Minimum crew rest too short. Glass tower doesn't take crew fatigue seriously. Upper management talks about WestJet culture, but acts completely differently. Same company name as 10 years ago, completely opposite culture now.

I LOVE my job!!! At first I thought the training received wasn’t enough but it’s a learn on the job position. I work at the call centre and everyday there’s something new. The pay is good and travel privileges are awesome! Westjet lets me, my husband, children and parents travel on Premium if seats are available ❤️ Breaks are mandatory despite what other employees have said and the leader s are awesome

I'm proud to be part of the WestJet family. The culture is one of the best in Canada. we take care of our people and our guests. The best part of working for WestJet is the ability to see the world while working for one of the best companies in Canada.

So it appears that Westjet once upon a time won the awards from Waterstone Human Capital for Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture and from Aon Hewitt for Best Employers in Canada. That was in 2015.

Since then the culture has changed to a more corporate culture hence awards like Corporate responsibility, Trusted airline, Best Airline, Traveler's choice, Low cost airline... etc...

It's pretty evident the focus has changed now... Even their slogan, "Owners care" makes one wonder, what is it that they now care about? Probably not about their employees anymore as the focus has shifted.

The position I worked for was a Service and Sales Agent - Home Based. Applicants - beware. There is a reason why they are still hiring. Yes, the travel benefits are great but the position has some gray areas that are quite questionable.

Home based - your responsibility to ensure your home has all the necessary "overhead" items. Furniture and internet service will not be compensated. What is normally deemed an overhead item for a company now comes out of your pocket. Also, if you have network issues (which happens often on their server) it's your responsibility to fix. If you take too long, they will assume you took the day off.

Micromanagement - Due to the nature of home based, it's understandable why they have use this technique but they monitor you to the second. You get 15 minute breaks or 30 minute lunches but not a second more otherwise you will get a warning from the monitoring station. Also, don't think you can catch up on the corporate emails when you are

Overall WestJet is a great employer.
There are small issues with work/life balance, especially if you aren't located near the airport you work at. This is most prevalent in the mid-level positions, where shifts are 12hrs (on a smooth day). This can easily result in 15hr days outside of your home, depending on where you're located in relation.

Salary is a little low in some cases, recently revised, but the benefits are great. Vacation time is excellent and bonuses and such are available as part of the total compensation.

Job security is superb - they don't really let people go without extensive cause. Advancement is another story, as promotion bottlenecks fairly quickly. Being able to move can greatly increase those opportunities.

Management, in my experience, has always been good. I have not clashed with people above me often, especially outside of the frontline capacity.

Culture is second to none in my opinion. There is a slight identity crisis currently with fast growth and increasing of employees, but the underlying culture remains.

I worked for WestJet for 3 years. I loved my job. The people there are simply the best. Even when the day is dull the people will always cheer you up.
The Culture is fantastic. They say they hire people based on their personalities and whether they are "WestJetty" and it truly shows. I have never had the pleasure of working with more people of a similar mindset to my own before working here.

The friendliest people on earth.

The management was always helpful and knowledgeable. Generally, superiors have done the same job before and know what you do day to day and what you go through. They are willing and friendly.

It is a big corporation and sometimes that shows in decisions and policies, but for the most part, as far as working for a corporation, it is great.

Fast paced environments can be stressful and WestJet is no exception. People want and need to get places on time and the job can be stressful, especially when times get messy for customers.
Points positifs
Flight benefits, health and dental, people rock
Points négatifs
Customers can suck, large compnay, fast paced and hard work

One of the founding principles of WestJet's corporate culture is that we take care of our people as well as if not better than our guests, so they can better take care of our business.

This virtue has been exchanged for corporate greed, one that has seen the executives salary increased by as much as 40% while cutting frontline worker's jobs and freezing wages during what our executives have labeled as difficult economic times.

Under our current CEO we have seen the unionization of our pilot group and soon to be flight attendants and Customer Service Agents as well as our ground staff.

5 years ago this was unthinkable; we all were protectors of our company culture. Now a majority of employees are unsure of their future and the promise of opportunities in our once great corporate experiment.
Points positifs
Excellent opportunities abound for executives.
Points négatifs
Forget about advancement, wage increases, and recognition for frontline employees.

I loved my thirteen years for WestJet. We had such and amazing culture and were always finding new ways to have fun while improving morale and boost confidence. You knew you could always rely on your teammates for anything if you needed. WestJet always stood behind us for training and helping us if there was ever a problem. They believed everyone had something to offer and they took care of the employees.
They made coming to work a "want to" thing to do. We were passionate and positive in everything we did. WestJet helped us to train for different departments, supplied us with all the tools we needed to succeed, and finally helped us all reach our goals.

It didn't take long to figure out what drinking the blue kool-aid thing was all about. You loved your job and the family you worked for.

I would recommend working there for anybody that wants a career in travel.
