Stay away

Stay away- new leadership and restructures happening. So many people being let go all the time . No job stability. No value for existing staff only focus is to get people in the door then treat them life garbage wity 2% salary increases. No human element to this leadership team. Apply elsewhere. Save yourself the headache

Disconnection between Management vs Front Line

Friendly staff. Workload is okay. Pay can be better. There seems to be a disconnection between upper management vs front line staff. Lack of communication.

Good place

This was a good place to work. Good atmosphere, high paced and attentive leadership.Only thing I remember being concerning was the training. It was not good and I was left for days to fend for myself. That was a few years ago.

I worked for 7 years in the company. While management wasn’t the best at times, overall it was a great experience. I found the work interesting and the team members supportive.

It was a good experience working there. It was a bit stressful sometime due to the large amount of calls that we had to handle. The benefits were taken from your pay.

Below Average

Incoming calls consist of people reporting an accident or calling for an update on an accident they've previously reported, both of which are negative situations that you have to deal with. Customers are usually very upset being just in a car accident or irrate that they've been waiting 3 weeks for a Claims Adjuster to call them back, there's no in-between. Most claim adjusters are on administrative leave due to being over worked, this leaves the customers bouncing from adjuster to adjuster, sometimes going months without communicating with the customers.Management, you mostly deal with your direct supervisor, I doubt their managers understand the true nature of what's actively happening to front end employees.The hardest part is the constant gaslighting from your supervisor. The supervisors only care about making themselves look good, regardless what that means for the front line agent.

Excellent company values, owned by policyholders and not shareholders. Employees are valued, and allowed to work wherever they prefer. Hopefully they keep the WFH long term.

team is very friendly and the company allows you to work from home. Work at your own pace, not a lot of micro managing.

Performance and experience has little to no impact on growth opportunity. Limited to no supervision, resulting in unequal distribution of work. Exacerbated by lack of accountability since moving to remote work scheme. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Lack of diversity, communication, and accountability, resulting in feelings of isolation by a large number of team members. Individuals would be promoted knowing they were far less experienced/knowledgeable than others and would admit this, which led to confusion and frustration, as well as toxic animosity at times. Leadership team inexperienced professionally leading to inappropriate handling of situations and delivery of critical information. Overall toxic environment. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Get caught up on emails and pick out any priority items, assess backlog of new business submissions, triaging and quoting commercial new business accordingly. Answering questions asked by newer staff and training less senior underwriters (who were sometimes hired in a more senior position due to having a family member on the team or in order to be attained within the most competitive salary bracket at the time), answering broker inquiries, processing endorsements, and correcting mistakes made by previous underwriters who did not receive any training.

The company says they care and want to be transparent. They don't. They will protect senior management and ignore the front line people who are doing the work.

Productive and Fun Work Environment

Wawanesa is a great company overall however they could improve in the area of compensation. Other than that it is a great environment to grow and offers good work life balance.

Micromanaging was a Turnoff

Avoid for these reasons: Micromanaging from supervisors, every irrelevant thing is watched e.g how long you used the washroom instead of focusing on the task at hand.Irrelevant/spontaneous meetings from supervisors to nitpick when you could be helping members with their claim.Expect you to handle complex claims when you barely have been trained to advise members in the topic.CST department is all over the place, no structure, seems like they just go with the wind. No one has remained in the role for more the a year Find a company that avoids micromanaging and actually trusts their workers.

Love the work. Leave ideologies out of the workplace

They're rolling out DEI Training so expect that you will be required to take it. They have embraced wokeness. If that's what you want in your workplace, this is the place to apply! If it's not what you want in a workplace, then now you know.The work itself is challenging but awesome. Great satisfaction when completing projects or after a productive day. Pay is quite decent.
