Administrative Assistant (Ancien employé) – Bathurst, NB – 31 décembre 2015
I worked there for 5 weeks and during that time, I found the work to be extremely varied and interesting. It was exactly the type of work I was looking for as it allowed me to deal with the public while also performing clerical duties.
The time went by very quickly.
It was difficult to do all the work during the office hours; hence, I often had to stay later or come in earlier.
PSW (Employé actuel) – Belleville, ON – 16 octobre 2019
Working in Belleville at the Adult Day Program could be a very nice work environment but their is one particular employee who plays staff against each other. She feels because she is the only full time person that she is boss. She harasses and bullies staff and if you stand up for yourself she makes it more miserable for you to work there. A lot of staff will not take shifts when they get called especially when they have to work with her. There is a union in this location and unfortunately management and HR don’t want to deal with her. VON has lost lots of good employees because of her. The only time it’s pleasant is when she isn’t around. Most staff talk about her behind her back but won’t stand up to her.
Productive, fast paced, providing care within our community
CCA (Employé actuel) – Pictou, NS – 9 octobre 2019
A typical day at work is visiting people within our community who are in need of assistance with ADL.I have learned that a smile and a sense of understanding goes along way when helping those in need. Management runs a tight ship but are always there to provide positive feedback. The hardest part of my job is when I know there are so many lonely people, the most enjoyable is when I can brighten their day and see their smiles as I walk through their door.
Don't understand why they are looking for people but don't call anyone . For interviews especially nurses with alot of experience the hiring manager knows nothing about her job.Good luck finding people.
Client Service Coordinator (Ancien employé) – London, ON – 27 septembre 2019
No work life balance completely unorganized the management staff turns a blind eye always worried about losing your job want you to work extended hours all the time the training is non existent. That job will burn you out plan and simple the job is dysfunctional and will burn you out to the point you dread coming into work
Home Helper (Ancien employé) – London, ON – 25 septembre 2019
This is one of the worst jobs I have ever had. No organization at the office; leaving you with long gaps in your schedule for no reason, giving you 30 minutes in between clients when you are in the same building and if you have a cancellation (sometimes 5+/wk) they don't even try to fill the spot. Clients are verbally abusive and many abuse the service. You do not get paid travel time And the 0.42/km does not cover the gas let alone wear on your car. the
Home Helper (Employé actuel) – Windsor, ON – 27 août 2019
Incredibly unorganized office staff, has us showing up at homes and they hav no clue were coming. Very small pay for the work. Barely make anything for mileage and sometimes have us driving over 80km/week! Do not get paid for travel time between clients (so your getting paid for 6hrs and are sometimes gone for 9+hrs a day with no pay between clients). Turnover is insane.
Managers give you absolutely NO SUPPORT. CSA are rude and can do whatever they want. They all talk about the workers and bully people and get away with it. Everything is the CCAs fault. Not appreciated, over worked and underpaid. This job is stressful.but If you want to be treated like garbage, then this is the place to work 💩
Home Support Worker (Ancien employé) – London, ON – 17 août 2019
Your offering up your second biggest investment;your vehicle to travel all over town only being paid a third of actual mileage. No paid time in between clients and no allotted time for breaks or lunch. Your only real reward is knowing your helping them because it’s not serving yourself !
Registered Practical Nurse (Employé actuel) – Mississauga, ON – 7 août 2019
VON has very good backup team support and the employees there are very supportive, considerate and professional. The management are very caring employees and always give employee efficient and timely support once emergency happened. Reasonable schedule
stay clear of this place if you are a PSW that belives in client care
Personal Support Worker (Ancien employé) – London, ON – 7 août 2019
only worked here for 2 months and that was way to long!!!! the managment and CAS were so rude and had no compassion or empathy I have called them q few times due to time conflicts and they were so rude! they pretty much said to bad to sad if the client cant do that time then no booking for them. this was appalling to hear seeing as they are here to serve the client make your life easier not harder. staff would rush bookings so they could fit more clients in so they could make more money eg. an hr booking so would cut it down to 1/2hr so they could fit an extra client. the office knows this and are completely fine with it!!!!!!! half the psw they hire dont know how to do the job or dont even speak English fluently. was always going into bookings where before staff have left a mess. pay sucks, no travel pay and the wear and tear isnt worth it. If they were to get good management that cares and treated staff right and did a proper screening of the staff they hired this could be a good place to work.
the only pro was i had some nice clients
rude management, lazy coworkers/dont do a good job, long hours, low pay with no travel pay, never see the same clients, no job security, treated like dirt by the scheduler and supervisors
PSW (Ancien employé) – Woodstock, ON – 1 août 2019
Often had to work double shifts, but paid the same as a regular shift :( Bring concerns about another staff inability to keep our clients safety and health to your manager NOT well received. They tend to be quick to discipline and slow to reward. NOT a good way to treat staff!
IT Cyber Security Specialist (Ancien employé) – Toronto, ON – 1 août 2019
I worked for VON for three years, It was amazing experience that I learned many skills in short period. What I liked in VON's workplace culture is the individuals who made it feel like home. Many challenges highlighted in VON's network and slowness of business to adapt IT changes/solutions.
Case Coordinator - SMILE Program - VON Canada (Ancien employé) – Trenton, ON – 30 juillet 2019
I feel that I was blessed to share space with the members of this team! I was given to opportunity to acquire new skills, hone existing skills, and develop an affinity for the client-centred approach to healthcare provision. It is difficult for me to leave this position as I have greatly enjoyed my time as a case coordinator.
Solid and dynamic team
Provincial funding... and all of the strings attached to it.
RN (Employé actuel) – Windsor, ON – 23 juillet 2019
My immediate team is wonderful, but beyond that VON is dreadful to work with. The pay is garbage (about 25% less than comparable jobs) and the benefits/pension are mediocre. Turnover rates for management are through the roof, which should tell you something...
