I completed my software developer work term here. A typical day started with morning stand-up meetings to get status updates from everyone on the team and get organized for the day. The rest of the day we would work on assigned tasks. I learned more about ETL and writing unit test cases. There were times when we were required to switch projects quickly, determined by upper management, and it was not very convenient. They had an open work environment, which could get noisy at times and where occasional nerf battles used to take place. The people were very friendly and help was there when I needed it. Hardest part was keeping up with the fast paced work environment, where we were required to switch projects quickly, when upper management would reorganize priorities. The most enjoyable part of the job was successfully completing projects from start to finish.
Free Lunches, shared kitchen with snacks, cereal, beverages
Not the best management
Management was lacking proper staff-relations skills No formal HR procedures/policies No recognition for hard work or overtime The fun atmosphere advertised soon fizzled out as the company grew larger
Good team atmosphere
No compensation or recognition for overtime
Hour long meetings on Mon or Tue to get status on all teams. Ten minute stand-up with your own team to discuss blockers. Peer programming or case resolution for the rest of the day. Lots of interesting challenges. Hardest part? Pressure when a customer is unhappy and wants an immediate resolution to a problem.
Lots of free lunches. Wide open spaces where everyone interacts
Two offices and a requirement to Skype in folks
I loved going to work a Verafin! You work with a great group of people and they're always smiling. My most challenging part of the job was the lack of privacy. There are meeting rooms you can book out, however, my work came in spurts so I didn't require a meeting room every time. There's no hierarchy at Verafin either. Management sits amongst the other staff. Dress is casual. Lots of perks. Lots of food. Beer cart on Fridays around 3:00 p.m.
not a stuffy environment
Very open, not much privacy
