Ph.D. program in the MIE department of UofT is challenging and rewarding at the same time. Working with some of the best professors and researchers in the field was a great opportunity and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to learn and grow.

after your mentor assiged a goal and deadline for you, you can really work with your own timetable. A lot of research will be done and you are likely to study many new skills. But usually mentors are really happy to discusse with you with problems or concerns you may have during the process. Overall a pleasant experience.
friendly working environment
difficult to have a parking space
Being a research assistant at this university has been great and terrible. Great for the experience, the people you work with, the flexibility. Terrible for the pay, and the heavily inconsistent errors, and the obscene difficulty involved in getting paid
Experience, great people, good facilities
inconsistent hours, low pay for needed skills
I work with my fellow colleagues on research and data analysis on post-secondary education pathways on behalf of Centre of Student Engagement. I enjoy the work atmosphere since there is enough flexibility since it is a work study position. I enjoy working in a team environment and collaborating on interesting projects.
It's a pleasure to work in University of Toronto Financial and Politics department, my work covered mostly every parts in regular data mining jobs, from data collecting, features selection, to modelling and data visualization, and finally wrote a report.
Fantastic university, great place to carry out your research in a very professional environment. People around you will motivate you in a constructive way. Toronto is an expensive but very enjoyable city.
