My 15 years of work experience, has very good management and co-workers. Very helpful staff. Training is very professional. I enjoyed working with UBC.

A typical day at work always starts from going through tons of emails. The most important thing that I have learnt is to cooperate with you team members, to learn from each other, to help each other and to share views with people around you. The experience helps improve your management skills including time management, and project management.

Faculty were great to work with, however the admin staff were always overworked and extremely stressed out. Very high turnover rate (unsurprisingly). Administration not willing to put money into hiring enough staff, then they wonder why people keep leaving. Made less than I did in my previous position, despite doing 4x the work - the role involved far more than one person can possibly accomplish alone, and was the most stressful job I've ever had. I hear this is a systemic issue across UBC. I would not work here again.

The library is the worst place, because people complain a lot. It is a very toxic environment. The moment you set foot there you start hearing complains about the work environment. There have been cases where people have not been promoted because of seniority and the university has been sued internally and people receive millions of dollars in compensation and still keep their jobs doing very minimal.

Communications lacks in this area and if you do something wrong to complain this is view as not being a team member and rumours would start to spread. Very toxic

.. very disconnected from department to department. Campus is nice but hard to commute and not paid enough to live closer. Management can treat "admin staff" as if they are beneath them.

HR are bullies and so very toxic. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
I’ve seen several long term staff get disciplined or fired for being injured on the job. As soon as your injured ( at work!!!) they will lie and cheat to get rid of you.....
Do not work here. UBCO’s HR is toxic.

I was hired to take notes/read out loud/study with my fellow students who had learning disabilities such as brain injuries/seizure disorders and dyslexia. The management at UBCO was horrible, if they had just let me and my students work things out between us it would have been way easier. But they ended up confusing matters between the four of us. I did get access to some good resources from UBCO to help them out though, so it wasn't all bad.

Clinical Research is a stressful event with much coordination and management of drug trials. I have gained experience especially with the Canadian regulation of drugs trials, GCP-ICH, Health Canada Div.5 and TCP2:Core.

Hanging out with other economic TAs was great. Office hours would be routine. Nothing difficult about this job. You need to have good time management to work here.

It pays well and the benefits are one of the best. But there's poor management, and it's really stressful. You get what you put into it. It's a great opportunity to start out with, but it's tricky to grow.

The typical day at work was a lengthy one. I have learnt patience, efficiency and all housekeeping techniques.
Management played favorites most of the time. Workplace culture was half toxic, competitive and gossipy.
Lifting heavy funiture on my own was my least favorite cup of tea.

Going to different locations from time to time helped me to cope with some drama there.

One of the worst place to work. Never Join UBC, Especially IT. UBC IT is one of the places where you can see people doing politics to the core. Most of the permanents are DOS-based old school IT guys. They never updated their knowledge or willingness to learn. If you are a contractor, Never ever think of Joining UBC.

This place has the worse staff working in the Faculty of Medicine. The accounting department gets threatened their job security when they don't comply to their managers. The only thing good at UBC is the wage and the benefits.
