Front End (Ancien employé) – Toronto, ON – 11 avril 2019
Most unorganized company I've ever seen. The first 30 minutes of every day is spent shuffling equipment around the shop in a confusing fashion while everyone struggles to get what they need to work that day. Training is nearly non-existent, resulting in frustration and a huge lack of safe work practices. Management often insists on pushing you to work when it is unsafe or without the equipment required to succeed. This leads to a massive waste of hours where you cant work or have to wait until management finally decides to get you the tools you told them you needed hours or even days ago. I ended up walking off the job and quitting when they were pushing to move massive steel beams in a way that was likely to get me or someone else killed. All while a new employee repeatedly ran in front of the forks on my vehicle while I was driving ON ICE despite my repeated pleas to stop. The company owner loves to talk about how much he cares about safety, but the reality on site is the opposite. I worked there almost six months and never saw a pay stub(though my pay was accurate) and I never saw the benefits I was promised after three months.
The labourers at the shop are all really great guys, which makes all the bad easier to deal with. Drill crews have shorter days that allow for a better work/life balance, but lagging crews work much longer hours.
They have the potential to be a great place to work if they gor their act together. But as it stands now, you are MUCH safer working somewhere else.
