Too Big
Plumber (Ancien employé) –  Calgary YYC3 janvier 2019
Management was poorly qualified and politics prevail over knowledge. Employee turn over was expected, so there was no need to look after their people. Exploitation is the norm as with any foreign worker company.
Points positifs
You get a pay cheque.
Points négatifs
You are disposable.

I picked up a lot of great working skills with this company. The helped me become a more independent and self sufficient employee along with how to properly work with others in a team environment.

Great place to get to know everyone quickly. Small family feel to the management group, and other employees. Great opportunities for further education.

Good place to work
Journeyman Electrician (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB4 juin 2017
Nothing out of the ordinary here, get assigned a task, get materials, go do it, go back and get your next task. if you don"t think it's safe, then don't do it, they'll work something out.

Steady work when the economy is good
RED SEAL JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB24 mai 2017
Trotter and Morton was a good place to work if you enjoy working on big projects. It was common to spend over two years at the same location which is great for work / life balance. They also had very good wages and benefits compare to other companies in town. On the downside, communication was just short of nonexistent and that was the main complaint from coworkers as well.
Points positifs
steady work
Points négatifs
poor communication

Good company, big resources but unfortunately also susceptible to business slow down. Over-all, good company to work for, but management may need to look at issues from both perspective.

Dog eat dog
Journeyman Electrician (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB27 mars 2017
Trotter says its a "family" company and it is if you're related to or kissing someones butt. Management will tell you what you want to hear to appease you til they throw you under the bus or no longer need your services. I've never worked for a company more cutt-throat, it's like a bunch of old woman gossiping in the seniors home. Employees will do whatever they have to get a bit ahead. Not a lot of integrity within this company and management is truly out of touch.

4th Year Electrical Apprentice (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB2 janvier 2017
I learned the importance of safety and doing the job right the first time. Hardest part was not knowing if I had a job next week

Good pace to stand and wait for managent to make decisions. Pack a lunch because you'll starve waiting.
Foreman/Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB30 décembre 2016
A poorly run company hiding within trotter and Morgan. Bluebird has been one of the worst companies I've worked for. The safety culture is an illusion, management is completely disconnected from the workers. If you ask for help, no one returned calls. Great field staff but everyone is miserable. This company focuses on blaming father than solutions.
Points positifs
Average pay
Points négatifs
Poor management, no communication, lack of support for field staff, low safety culture, no long term opportunity.

Awesome place to work
Electrician (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB6 décembre 2016
I found Trotter to be a sweet place to work mainly because of the benefits, hourly wage, overtime, and added perks such as ALL PPE is provided, tool gifts, jackets, lunch boxes, etc. Some of the work done by this company that I've seen has been questionable, and the typical management response was "looks fine."
Points positifs
Wage, benefits, perks
Points négatifs
Management, very rare advancement opportunities, poor workmanship from employees

Cometitive pay
Electrician (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB9 novembre 2016
They had competitive pay and flex days after 5 years. They were pretty flexible when it came to time off needed. I would work there again if I moved to a region where they do business.
Points positifs
flex days
Points négatifs
large impersonal company

Great Company to work for
Journeyman Electrician (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB13 octobre 2016
Was a great company to work for. Very safety orientated. Apprentices don't prehaps learn the breadth of their trade here, as its easy to be pigeon holed into the last thing you did very well in.
Points positifs
Safety, Professional, Oppertunities
Points négatifs
Very narrow learning base for apprentices

Amazing learning workplace that i was working on my apprenticeship at, they were very big on safety and putting their workers through training just as (CSTS,Arial Lift, WHIMIS, etc) Reasonable hours coming toward the big push at the end of the Shulich Expansion.
Points positifs
Payed Training day's
Points négatifs

Good and Bad
Journeyman Electrician (Employé actuel) –  Calgary, AB11 janvier 2015
Good place for a Journeyman to earn a paycheck and not have to use your brain. The work pace is very laid back unless there is a deadline. Best you can hope for as an advancement is Sub-foreman and no guarantee you will stay as one through whole job or transferred as one to the next job. Trotter is good on paper as far as benefits but they use it to pull the curtain over the bad management. Good place to get your foot in the door as someone wanting to start an apprenticeship as they will indenture you straight away. However you will get pigeon holed into one role, usually pipe bending. Not a great learning environment get in as a first year get out as a second year. The hospital site was fairly well run but the management team that looked after the hospital is not looking after the YYC expansion. If you are looking for a job with Trotter specify you would prefer to be on the Downtown site or U of C stay away form the airport if possible. Safety is above average compared to other companies i have worked for.
