Typical and stressful

Useless management to Team Leader to permanent Team member. Every time Robo is breaking down and you will end up doing extra jobs. Un friendly management. Favoritism will be given to permanent staff. They like to hire constantly because no one like to stay more than 2 years. When you

Points positifs

Job security

Points négatifs

Stress, unhappy, body pain.

Fast-paced hard work.

Hiring contract positions, renewable annually. Full-time TM's nurture resentment to management, resulting in an "I don't care" work environment. Communication from the projects team, or the alternate shift are non existent, creating confusion for TM's having to adapt on the fly. Work/life balance is only a dream. You work; you sleep. Focus is on number of cars built in over-processed, hectic standards which change frequently.

Points positifs

Hourly wage/bonuses

Points négatifs

Long hours

Not what I thought it would be

At the beginning the hype is great and you are full of energy. Then a few years go by and reality hits you. There are no opportunities until you get permanent and that can take three to four years. By then all motivation and ambition is gone. You will be doing the exact same work as permanent tm for 8 years before you get the exact wage. It is hard work and no attempt is made to make it easier. They will have you take many surveys but will not use the information. Nothing is done until a accident happens. So much drama. If you are a mindless drone you will be fine. Short term is fine but it is not a place for long-term success

Points positifs

Making money during pendemic

Points négatifs

Mandatory overtime, drama, money is not great for today's economy

If you have a lazy attitude, this isn’t for you.

It is what it is.Factory work building cars.If you can’t handle that then I’m sure there are other jobs out there. When there are high demands for a particular vehicle then there will be overtime & that goes for any other product that’s being made.Sometimes I tend to wonder about the mindset of certain team members at this plant. You were hired to build cars & the OT & benefits were given to you in your contract which YOU signed. Why sign something & complain about it afterwards? (Unless if you can’t read)All these car companies are about making money/profits,it’s just the nature of majority of businesses. You come to work,do your job, don’t join the “complaining gang”,clock out & head to your home & you should be fine.

Points positifs

Pay, vacation(FT), benefits

Points négatifs

Too many negative team members just complaining day in, day out.

Fast paced work, paid well for what is expected of you.

They have just changed the grow in schedule from 10 years to make the top rate of a regular team member down to 8 years. The starting rate is now 22.88 per hour, and takes 8 years to get to 36.60. Benefits after 90 days, and dental benefits with defined contribution pension after you are hired as a permanent team member.

Points positifs

Pretty much as much overtime as you want to work.

Points négatifs

Work life balance at times.

Dead end Job

Toyota Motors Manufacturing Canada (tmmc) or as we called it teaching monkeys making cars.Well it could be a great place to work at.. but due to management its not.. you get paid ok.. but if you look at the fact that you cant have much of a life due to the pay its not worth it.. Everywhere in Ontario you get 10 sick days.. not Toyota or other auto manufacturers.. pretty sure they are down to 6 now.. So cant say not to overtime.. work work .. cant call in sick if you get hurt, well you can but after the 6 days they can fire you.. Management looks at you like your worthless and replaceable. do ur job and dont step on their foot.. or the little boys club will ensure your job is a nightmare there..And if you get assembly.. turn over is so high.. because in most parts of the line.. you dont have a extra sec everything is timed like a robot.. and you better be quick and no mess ups...Yep dead end job.. which will let you pay for a house But ull never be able to spend real time with your family

Points positifs

Pay is ok, lots of overtime..

Points négatifs

Lots of over time.. almost no sick days.. and treated bad

Are you a robot? Then this is the job for you!

If you don’t care about life/work balance, if you want to work overtime all the time, this is the job for you! Very demanding work that will leave you exhausted and discouraged.

Points positifs

Draining and tiring

Be prepared to work like a dog, they pay good but you’ll have no life outside of work. The management can also be pretty bad and there are some serious characters in that place.

Good place to work

It was what some might call daunting, but nonetheless fulfilling. A typical day could see me doing anything ranging from painting and repairing, to inspecting cars for smaller flaws to avoid recall. Some days call for being on the ball 24/7, others are easier, but both are enjoyable with the right guys by your side. We painted and repaired through thick and thin, helping each other out when needed. Never had a problem with management, most of the time very reasonable guys. There wasn't really a hard part of the job. With the right guys helping you along the way and the right attitude, any car body can be painted to perfection. I didn't find the work hard, but retiring was the hardest part of the job for me. The most enjoyable part of the job was when you did 110% on a job, and you get to look at all the work you've done, knowing that the customer will enjoy it for years to come.

Points positifs

Job security, decent pay.

Points négatifs

Favoritism sometimes occur.

It's better pay than McDonald's

Toyota doesn't care who they hire. If you go in thinking that because you have a degree, trade, or some sort of transferable skill you will get a better position or pay, think again. This is factory work to its core. It's akin to how I imagined prison labour to be like, hard manual labour with very little time to rest. You are disciplined for taking extra time to use the bathroom during breaks, and management harasses you if you don't complete your work within your alloted cycle time. Toyota is great for young people getting out of high school with no ambition to persue any further education, or those with no specific working goals. It's decent money for the type of work as it's higher than minimum wage, but it takes 4 years to be offered a permanent position, and it takes 10 years to max out on the pay scale at $36/hour. I have met people that have been there for 25 years and they earn the same wages as someone with 10 years. Progression and promotion is extremely slow and very challenging just to earn an extra $1.25/hour as a Team Leader. At the interview and on paper they tell you Monday to Friday, 40 hrs a week. In reality, the standard is 48 hours a week, with mandatory overtime. Day shift is required to work 4 hours on Saturday mornings, and night shift is required to work 10 hours Monday to Thursday. Sunday overtime is voluntary. Sure, because of the extreme amount of overtime, someone maxed out on the payscale after 10 years and who works 7 days a week can make good money. Toyota promotes the overtime as a job benefit to you, but then you have no personal life. They -

Overtime is mandatory here.

I've had only 4 months working but here are the problems.1. Fast-paced work, u'll work like crazy here most of the time2. Overtime mandatory (good place if you're in big debt)3. Tiring hour schedule also rotation, afternoon shift'll be done around 4 - 5am (I was ok in the first 2 months)4. You have to spend 4hrs in the SATURDAY, and yes it's mandatory

Over worked and underpaid as a contract

The shifts are brutal, no one cares about your hard work. They blame you when you get hurt, it’s a really awful work environment. Team leader and group leaders kiss so much butt just to get a stripe and a lot of them treat people like garbage because they go on these big power trips. Coworkers for the most part are great cause everyone is stuck in the miserable place together, but a lot of people are super unhappy and find joy out of making others peoples lives/day ruined

Points positifs

2 weeks holidays as contract(one is taken for shut down)

Points négatifs

Just about everything else

Very hard work

Jobs are very fast paced and repetitious. It’s best if you are physically fit to do these jobs to avoid any injuries. The jobs are all repetitious and a great deal of job hardening. These jobs are not for everyone.

Points positifs

Good money, benefits, overtime

Points négatifs

Shift work, long hours, repetition
