Great opportunity
Recruitment-Business Development Consultant (Ancien employé) –  Etobicoke3 décembre 2014
I had the opportunity of working at Topnotch in 2 different occasions and in 2 different roles.
I started as a recruitment consultant, left, and returned to join the business development team.

The company is growing and gaining new business, almost every day. In the office everyone is friendly and helpful there is always some sort of celebration, and the owner makes it a point to keep the spirits up. The GM has a tight relationship with everyone, client/candidates/team members, and will work with you on how to better yourself and make you a part of the ambitions growth plans. She is very understanding of employees' personal constraints, making it easy to have a good life-work balance. In any business, there are disgruntled employees who complain about long hours, no recognition, not being able to advance etc. From what I saw, those people don't give 100%, and are not willing to be team players. Recruitment and HR in general are all about hard work, extra time and tight deadlines - this is no news! So expect to work hard, earn your respect, and the recognition will be there.

The job is fast paced always busy with a great variety of work, great roaster of clients. If you are looking to learn and expend your repertoire as a recruiter/business development consultant - then this is the place for you. Topnotch provides tremendous potential for growth for any driven professional.

Great Organization to consider
Recruitment Consultant (Employé actuel) –  Toronto, ON1 décembre 2014
Very disappointing to come across two reviews written in an entirely negative light about my current place of employment. I think it would be both helpful & educational to allow the public to make an honest inference based on a review of a genuine nature.
I have been working at Topnotch Recruitment over four (4) years. I've had the pleasure of building excellent relationships with both peers and my manager. It might be to the benefit of others to address certain concerns about this organization.

There are family members that work for the company, hardly enough reason to hold an organization in contempt. I do work with family members in different departments on a daily basis. I cannot honestly comment on the specifics of their work contract but can attest to their high regard for pleasing both our customers and clients. This is the general objective of Topnotch Employees. To achieve our objective we do work beyond the 9-5 spectrum, including family members, many times leaving them at the office. Not surprisingly, the work environment is demanding as our clientele ‘demands’ results right away. In the recruitment industry you either stay abreast or gracefully exit the race. This overall mentality does give birth to an opinionated environment that can easily be misinterpreted. If you are a hard worker with a goal of learning new or more effective ways of being productive, be prepared to welcome constructive criticism.

The four years at Topnotch has helped me to be a better judge of character and essentially a greater recruiter due to suggestions received.
Breaks? To each
plus... his own. There certainly isn't a log report to justify when you leave for breaks but it is expected, and shows team spirit that you make sure there is coverage in the office prior to leaving. Time Off? I have never worked in a more flexible environment. I have worked full time, part time, requested time off with less than an hour’s notice that has been approved, I practically set my own schedule all approved by the general manager with no difficulty. Did I mention I am NOT family? Might be nice to point that out again.

I hope this helps you to make a more informed decision about Topnotch Recruitment. If you are considering employment here, considering using our services to assist in your career search or to help you find excellent candidates I STRONGLY urge you to contact us 

Unhappy, miserable place run by a psychotic owner
Recruitment Coordinator (Ancien employé) –  Etobicoke, ON8 novembre 2013
Work with TopNotch and you will lose your self-respect and dignity. The job is not bad, it's high-volume, fast-paced environment and the co-workers are generally speaking okay. But it is a family-run operation and the children of the president are obviously treated in a better way than the others - meaning, they are the only ones who won't be yelled at for every single insignificant detail. When you try to explain why you do things certain way she will tell you she doesn't like your attitude and your tone of voice. The president is an extremely mean person who uses emotional blackmail, psychological manipulation towards her employees to make a point or just to prove that she is right (she is never wrong) - her favourite one is I'm paying you and you're not giving me results or you are costly to me. She loves putting people down - whatever you do will be considered wrong. She micromanages every single f.art around the office. She will call at 8am to see if you are already at work and if you are running five or more minutes late she wants to know why. You are expected to work through your lunch breaks and stay after 5pm and sometimes take the after-hours phone home on the weekend (you won't be paid for either). She will tell you it's okay to take unpaid extra time off but in fact when you need time off (for instance for medical reasons) you won't be allowed. At my interview I was told all employees love working there and have been with the company for years (sure, the family members have been) and she wants to keep people on board long-term. In reality, there is a huge turn-out  plus... of people - I assume majority of them quit because of the boss. She sells you on the bonus and how much she wants you to earn extra money by working hard so your annual income would be 60k (she typically pays around 35k) - you will never get the bonus. Definitely do not list her as your reference, she is not afraid to make you look bad in front of a prospective employer regardless of your results. To better illustrate the owner's personality, watch the movies entitled Devil wear Prada or Horrible Bosses.  moins
