Great co workers I had

Enjoyed but business needs during slow times like December made it hard to sustain life balance. Forced to look for a second job to make it through until business needs were requested more staff could work. I enjoyed some coworkers that i had a chance to meet.

decent workplace with good co-workers.

The pay is decent but you get great benefits and a very positive work environment that sometimes feel like a second family. Sometimes they move managers and supervisors to different stores and the workplace can sometimes become toxic if the wrong type of manager gets transferred to your store. But overall great experience with managers and supervisors. I can't emphasize enough that you get great coworkers who you can laugh and achieve backdown goals with.

very toxic management

Started very nice and fun when the store was making sales goals but when it slowed down then the pressure to meet sales goals caused a backlash down the line and every day was misery.

Employees are easy to fit in with

Great benefits. As many hours as you wish. Fast paced. Wear jeans everyday. Free water. Candy incentives to do a job you're hired for to begin with. Employees feel like family.

Good store hampered by greedy corporate culture

The Home Depot is a pretty decent place to work. At my location everyone was really respectful and supportive, it felt like managers actually had your back, and there's genuine recognition for hard work. On the other hand, corporate management stresses the importance of excellent service while cutting their labour budget year over year. Hours fluctuate drastically for part time workers, there may only be one person scheduled in one department at a time, and you can expect no support in just generally helping customers. The training is also terrible, and you can expect to start working with a lot of knowledge about corporate policies and Home Depot's Core Values, but next to no idea of how to do your job. You'll learn more from two days of talking to coworkers than you will from the three weeks of training you go through when you start.

Customer service, no associate protection

This is a huge non-flexible corporation with huge bureaucratic rules and very very tough on salary increase, I would say impossible. Creativity killer

Assistant Store Managers Suck!

Watch out for the ASMs. They are interesting in their own pat on the back and dont care about the underlings. When push comes to shove, its you under the bus.

Good to get experience

The company is good but some supervisor are power tripping if she dont like you you have a bad day, other than that the manager and Asst manager are very supportive in many ways, good benefits even permanent part-time, the store are big and has lots to offer for good experience.

Great team to work with

Energetic and motivated coworkers. Managers genuinely care about each employee's well being and regularly check up with them. Decent pay and a lot of very good advantages.

Employees were great

I started as a cashier then soon was asked to join the service desk then was asked to work certain days in the Vault..finance. For being part time I had quite a few hours never said no and never called in to work. I loved the customer relationships

Love working at Home Depot

I've worked at Home Depot for 4 years. Got a part time position at service desk with in a yr of being on cash. No interview. After about 3 yrs at the service desk a job came up for full time. I applied!! Had an internal interview. With 4 of my service desk crew. 2 of which just started not 6 mnths ago. 2 positions are available!! Apparently I give a bad interview. So bad that they gave the position to the new girl. My job at the service desk means nothing without a great interview. My performance means nothing. My customers praises mean nothing. It's a popularity contest with who knows who. Even took this to head office HR. Nothing. Like I said I love my job at the service desk. It's to bad that they dont hire fair.

Great environment and job. But your Boss makes or breaks it.

I worked at 2 locations on the Merchandising Execution Team. The first for 1 year was incredible. Incredible boss, wonderful and fun team, actually did merchandising work with setting up displays etc, work was a lot of fun and extremely productive. I cannot say enough about that experience. Then I transferred locations due to a cross country move, and quit after 3 months because of the boss. They were extremely uptight for no reason, the tasks were mundane, and there was no actual merchandising, just cleaning bays as glorified janitors. Home Depot is for sure a great employer, but your boss definitely makes or breaks the vibe and what your day to day entails regardless of your job description. Also be aware of your hours; You will probably be scheduled full time hours as a part-time employee, getting part time benefits. My first boss knew a lot of part timers worked multiple jobs and was very flexible with the schedule. My second boss could not be bothered with making adjustments to a schedule they made without prior discussions.Most employees are super easy going and you'll find yourself hanging out with them outside of work. Be prepared to lift heavy boxes, go up and down ladders, sweat, and be attentive to details as well as safety. But If you refuse to lift something or do something beyond your abilities, know that is always completely okay.

unpredictable hours, good workers are treated poorly, no management

Hours fluctuate from 40/week - 4/work with zero warning, management will barely assist you when you call for help, and managers seem to do very little work around the store. The best and hardest working employees were treated very poorly, while the ones who barely lift a finger are highly awarded. Within your 3 months probationary, it is so easy to get fired that it feels like walking on eggshells the whole time, while being treated like dirt.

Needs more coaching with helping other departments

Enjoyed working there. HD appreciates your availability, but doesn't look favorably when situations arise that prevent you from going to work. They should have a slush fund of associates who want to be on call to fill in. These associates would need cross training but a person who can help you is better than nothing. That person has resources to get required info. Complaints of not enough staff is the #1 concern. It is also dictated by sales and the economy.

Promising but overall a typical management first mentality.

The first year I spent here the workplace was great, it was easy to advance with badges and it was a good mental challenge over all, but past that first year it fully just cut off. If you work hard you are expected to do the work of 5 or 6 people and requests to hire to understaffed departments are largely ignored or you are straight up told it isn't going to happen. At the moment the average new person is only making it a couple weeks, and many people are fired or let go just before their 3 months probation is up or are only hired under seasonal contract. It is incredibly stressful to know that if even one person takes a sick day you could be working alone in your department and expected to answer all calls and work your butt off for very little benefit. Some perks are the benefit package for both full-timers and part-timers though full-time has more to it, and the cash rewards when gaining new badges for going above and beyond. The problem lays in that once you go above and beyond you are expected to stay there and gaining anything more is almost impossible. Advancement has gone from being able to take up any full-time position that is vacated by applying, to the company only outsourcing for their full-time positions and not granting to internal employees. Curbside for my store was also an utter nightmare. We settled into a system the 2nd lockdown and during the 3rd they trashed all of it and then set all our orders to pick from home even if we didn't have the item in stock so people would come to pick up orders that we hadn't even checked yet.It was chaotic and beyond -

Very supportive by encouraging each to be better in their roles in providing customers needs and wants; and by doing so resulted in overall customer satisfaction.
