They pay you a few cents more than minimum wage- literally!
Please work here only if you need experience for 3 - 6months. Beyond that, you're being exploited. They are retail so the shifts range from 6am to 11pm and weekends you are only going to be stuck working in the store. This is you life. Underpaid and time-exploited.

Great as a start up place to work with retail. Not great if you'd like a consistent means to support cost of living if you are not full time.During the winter, the shifts are minimal. It is recommended to have a second job to support yourself.

Management is hit or miss, pay is very low

The pay for an associate is minimum wage, not enough for the amount of work expected from you. Managers can be great people but not great managers. Scheduling is a nightmare. Too many cost cutting measures that hurt associates and then cause issues for customers who then take their anger out on associates. Associates always lose. For example, they combine departments to save money on paying multiple people a Department Supervisor salary. They instead would consolidate a handful of departments into one so that there is only one DS rather than maybe 3. That means, however, that one or two associates are expected to cover all of those departments at some times during the day regardless of their knowledge and experience. Associates are spread too thin, paid too little, and made to work more than reasonably expected.

a typical day as a customer service rep is more like being a warehouse worker, which they do not tell you during the interview process. I did learn about a lot of tools and home renovation. the management is awful they often ignore people on the communicators and rarely are helpful in dealing with customer issues, they are not people with management experience but just employees who stuck it out long enough to get promoted. most of the people that work there are miserable and rude to fellow employees and like the management are very unhelpful, back stabby and gossipy. the hardest part of the job for me would be all the heavy lifting when no one will help you like they are suppose too. the only part of the job I enjoyed was that dogs were allowed in the store and I got to pet them .

lots of opportunities to learn. how to make installation quotes, how to sell a project instead of just a product, making good relation with the customer, and providing the best advice and services so they will visit the store again and again. keep your department organized and clean. I found this organization as a place where your hard work will be appreciated by the management and recognized by giving homer awards, which I feel is the best way of motivating someone for doing his best. co-workers are really co-operative and respect for each other. Departmental transfers really help you to enhance your product knowledge and standards and procedures followed in a different area of the store.
