I don't know where to start honestly. I work Shopping center and it's the most disorganize department I’ve ever seen doing stuff that is not security-related. Managers want u to follow all the Cadillac policies while expecting you to do your job Which is not possible if you do you will be called in a meeting and getting yelled at for doing your job. Almost every week We were Dealing with bums, assault, overdoses, on top of they are hiring security guards with no life experiences in the field.

Great salary and benefits, but static roles with no future

The good - high salary, excellent bonus, company shutdown over the holidays, RRSP matching (you pay 6% and they will pay 9%!!), private cubicles, extremely quiet office, perks aplenty including free food 2 or three times a week (salmon filets and wild rice, not leftover pizza lol)

The bad - so many long time staff who have not been trained in doing anything else for decades that have become institutionalized into not wanting to rock the boat with new ideas. IT department prefers to buy a solution rather than build one. When it does build one, it must be developed quickly and matching the 15 year old technology of other in-house apps. Mgmt is sold new systems by salesmen and then tells staff to make it fit with their other systems.

no company direction, mgmt prefers status quo, many lifers here doing the same job because $ is so lucrative

Company has no vision and what management
Building Operator (Ancien employé) –  Fairview, ON1 février 2019
Worked for this company twice, first experience was great. Managers actually managed you could go to your supervisors for technical advise and would get help also managers would do there best to help there tenants. My second was so bad that it made me never want to work in the operations department of any mall ever again. And when you try to reinvent the wheel for them you'll find out there good with there wheel being broken. IF you ever go to work at FAIRVIEW MALL my suggestion is RUN it might ruin you from wanting to ever work in the operation industry ever again.

Most coworkers are great, but management is poor

Most of my coworkers were absolutely great to work with. Management was completely hit or miss. Was usually given one answer, but when brought up work safety legislation or industry standards, answers changed. Probably trying to take advantage of people who don't educate themselves about work safety issues. Training said one thing, management said another.

No real benefits like health or dental, we were usually over or understaffed, company maintained taking data on amount of customer interactions was a waste of time, unsupportive management

This is a really good company to work for, the benefits are great and pay is not bad either.
One of the only cons is it is becoming a really corporate type of workplace as opposed to a smaller company feel it used to have.

Good Benefit and salary but people still leaving

19% turn over rate. Almost Everyone that work at my department hate their job. The schedule is bad and the the training is the worst part for me: They don't offer written instruction and so there's no way to check that are you doing your job properly.

Used to be a better company that focused on the employee's happiness, but the current culture seems to only care about the business since the new CEO took over operations. Constantly changing up the staff under the guise of restructuring.

Good company that cares about its people

CF recognize that people are the core of the company that its success rides on their ability to succeed, therefore it invests heavily in them. There is a good working culture and the people are great with generally very supportive managers. Amazing benefits.

Like any large corporation, some politics play out especially evident in the Head Office vs. Properties dynamic. National level teams could do a better job at listening and taking feedback from the property teams.

What also makes CF good can also make it difficult in that people love their jobs and therefore don't leave, making it difficult to advance (or for outsiders to get a foot into the company).
