It was good but not so much anymore

The culture starting going downhill. As a technician we had pride in our job but as time went by they started making us work like slaves. They want to make you work as fast as you can and take as money jobs as you can and still expect that quality service. The repair jobs are almost patch jobs since they give little to no time to fix the problem. Also they want you to become a salesman.

Management treat workers like slaves. Not your direct manager but the higher up.

Used to be a good company to work for but their values have shifted in the last few years

Started out as a very positive experience but as time past and different management was brought in the focus became more about the bottom line than about the customer. Part of their corporate message is work life balance but their shifts do not reflect that.

Dead end role

No natural advancement process. Extremely difficult to move into other roles, most managers are completely useless in helping you do this. Field role has changed dramatically in recent years. Training has declined, consequently so has quality of work. Hard push on sales now; Telus is now hiring sales people versus technicians for the same role. Seniority means nothing, only numbers and favouritism. Telus seems like a pretty good company, but this role is a high pressure dead end.

A Great place to work

A great place to work; team members are excellent and got the team work attitude. All technicians are helping to each other. Excellent crew, fun place to be. All the necessary tools are provided to make our job easier.

Productive work place

Pros Excellent. Good communication. Helpful, good environment. Challenging but always willing to help with projects and sales. Open door policy with many meetings. Cons Wonderful problem of being too busy with expanding responsibilities and creating new business thru searches and referrals. Oversight is a lot but necessary. Advice to Management Continue to work to grow the co and thereby helping current employees and creating opportunities for growth..

nice group of guys to work with, management is good they set you up with the right tools to succeed. good experience as a stepping stone to a brighter future in Telecommunications.

get jobs dispatched to the board, interact with cx. manager is very helpful, all jobs can be hard with this kind of weather conditions in alberta.

Enjoyable, past paced friendly envorinment.

Creating batch jobs, working at Lendrum Co. & 4 remotes. Running in and removel of jumpers for Pots lines, Adsl, various other functions. Management unfortunately, not the greatest. To many turn-overs for management positions. Of the 23 plus years I worked for Telus, must have had 16 different managers, some with no experience in CSD ( customer solutions delivery). Rarely had the chance to interact with co-workers, although I have trained many over the years. Dealing with assignment issues created within batch jobs. Taking great pride in my day to day work ethics and learning any knew tasks job related.
