Very stressful environment. So many young people crying in the bathroom. Pushy sales culture lead to wrong behaviors. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They allow their employees to take verbal abuse from clients. Management were being promoted because their friends were in management.

Great co-workers and management, terrible job security

I worked for Telus for three years and thirty days exactly. My managers were fantastic and treated me with the utmost respect. I wanted to make it my career, and worked myself to the bone. However, management decided to close a department that was performing terribly and had way too many customer complaints against it. Instead of getting rid of these horrible people, they slid into our jobs and bumped 12+ of us. Now, I hear that that three fantastic managers have left the company/department, morale is down, and people are trying to find a way out. Management is now dictated by the results of "Pulsecheck Surveys". So if the regular employees don't get what they want, they give them really bad reviews and end up axing them. But, in my department, the people who are doing this to these managers have no idea how to service our clients and have brought the toxic environment into this department. Wage is also low compared to equal positions at different companies, but you can get work from home, so there's that.

Decent job

Good pay and benefits, but difficult to have a good work life balance as you could be working 7am-2pm one day, then 2pm-10pm the next. hours per week vary greatly

Good place to work

TELUS is a great company that tries and does a good job to show their employees they are valued. Pay and benefits are great. Depending on what you want out of your career TELUS is a good place to grow, if it’s not a career job for you you will still learn a lot of very valuable people and work skills. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work for and learn from this company.

Great place to work!

Telus has a really nice work/life balance, everyone is super friendly, and employees generally seems to enjoy what they were doing. The one thing I loved about this company was the many things they did for the community. I just wish they would be a little more accepting of people who didn't exactly fit into their "corporate" standards.

amazing company who treats their employees great

amazing! honestly the best employer ive ever had. every single manager i had through my 2 years there were amazing. they have amazing one on ones every week as well as team building. lots of oppurtunity to move up. and alot of training. so youre always prepared. love telus.

monthly contests

a typical day at work would be receiving several calls per day regarding billing issues, ordering services and add ons, escatations, taking payments, processing credit checks. A busy work environment. I have learned to have a thick skin and to have great listening skills inthis position.

Pretty good

It has been a number of years since I worked at TELUS, but the overall work experience there was pretty enjoyable. But, I cannot say that this will hold true to today.

Slow to No growth

The company had many in house educational pograms that allowed employees to gain skills needed for promotion, but never had ample opportunities to promote employees who consistently scored well on performance reviews and received high grades in the previously mentioned programs.

not worth it

I enjoyed all the people I worked with, I even enjoyed the office atmosphere and working on a computer however management was too overbearing to create a healthy long term work environment. There was a lot of interoffice drama and railroading in order to achieve advancements. I had a manager actually actively prevent me from advancing upwards in my career.

Typical corporate environment

In 11 years with the company I was treated fairly and compensated very well for what I was doing. I'd probably still be there if I didn't feel I was going to be dodging a severance package for the rest of my career, as many departments face outsourcing/off-shoring. I did find often, people that weren't capable of effectively managing would get promoted to management based on personal relationship as opposed to actual work experience, but that is really just how the game is played everywhere you go so nothing out of the ordinary. Co-Workers were usually phenomenal and it was most often them that kept me showing up on a daily basis. Great performing Employee Share Plan and benefits.

The culture was good

A typical work day would involve helping clients manage their accounts. I learned data handling skills during my time at this job. The job was contract based to there was no real position to advance to. The most enjoyable part of the job was the colleagues in the same position.

not for front line customer care work

the company used to be amazing, and i'm sure it depends on what department you work for so this is pertaining customer care and client facing teams. over the last decade however they have cut fun extras, increased rates for insurance while removing more of what's covered within the insurance, there is almost no work life balance with vacation days being blocked off and managers being told NOT to make exceptions as well as scheduling being a disaster and with employees who take calls being pressured to take more calls in quicker succession, with more and harsher punishments if the company's idea of " ideals" is not being met. there is little to no advancement as openings for other departments are not considered seriously for those applying from client facing teams, and managers that are being hired seem to be only a small step up from used car salesmen both in competence and morals. this is a great place if you want to pass through, a student perhaps looking for something part time. but NOT for a career.

Great Company To Work For

No complaints. Just ended up starting my own business. We were always treated with respect and our opinions were taken into consideration at all times. For such a large company they could implement new things fairly quickly.

Great Company to work for

Telus was a great company to work for and had great benefits with amazing pay. The Shifts were on a 12 week rotation so your shifts were constantly changing on a weekly basis.

Fun place to work with great benefits

A typical day at Telus is chatting with great people on the phone and helping them as best I can. Ive learned a lot of patience working here mainly. The management is always there for you if you need help or questions about anything. I have come to find some great life long friendships at Telus. The hardest part of my job is when someone calls in for a certain channel or program that we don't offer and theres nothing i can do for them. The best part of my job is when someone calls to save some money and i end up being able to do that for them by going over their bill, its very rewarding.
