Pros Fun, intelligent colleagues The convenience of work from home options. The culture is a lot of fun, and you'll have the opportunity to work with a number of driven, high performing people who love to share their knowledge. Cons 'Work from home' often means you are expected to be there 24/ 7. Management can be somewhat short sighted. Salary is so-so: benefits are continually being reduced, longer-term employees often talk about salary and benefits being a lot better than they are now. Some teams are amazing, some have a very 'boys club' feel - it depends on where you end up.

Used to be great but not that much now...

I worked at TELUS for 14 years and at the beginning, it was a really nice place to work. But 6 years ago, everything fell apart. First, they closed an entire IT department to transfer the jobs to Philippines. After that, our department was transferred to another one that was totally unrelated to our work! Finally, when a person left or retired, they were not replaced. The workload was increasing but there was no additional hiring. The bosses always wanted more with less. We needed to do overtime and after business hours to be able to deliver. We also had to be on call! I had enough and I left. It was the best decision ever!! TELUS just doesn't care about your life or family.

Great minus work life balance.

The people are great, the company mission is great but the work life balance needs help. Recently scheduling was taken over by a overseas team and has taken a dive. Not enough opportunity to work from home.

Changes

I feel that TELUS needs to start focusing on the employees more and bring the call centre back to Canada. Too much of the Business is moving to international countries and that hurts the Canadian Job market.

Strong Team Culture

There is a strong culture of working together as a team - you work hard and you play hard together. It can get a little hectic and being able to quickly synthesize large volumes of information and making decisions on the fly are skills that will go a long way. Meetings, meetings all day can make simple decisions cumbersome, but collaboration is highly encouraged. For me the pay was relatively low compared to other utilities that I've worked wit, but the opportunities to learn and develop professionally compensates for this.

Work from home program

I loved that most of my work time was from home. I was a management professional with Telus and I had an opportunity to work from home. Work life balance was important to me and Telus is great at that.

great culture and great place to work

TELUS is without a doubt the best company I have ever worked for. Customers are out first priority, and it is obvious by the amount of services that are available to them. My team is fun, collaborative and very helpful! I would recommend this Employer to any one that qualifies and is interested.

Productive workplace

I've been with TELUS for 3 years now and in this time I have gained an extensive amount of knowledge pertaining to our Channel partners and their processes and procedures. I have also learned how to easily adapt to change and also focus on creating the best customer experience possible. I have a passion to succeed and have excellent communication skills that I have learned over the years collaborating with my peers, supporting our Channel Partners (Dealers, Corporate Stores, and Retailers), and speaking directly with clients when handling escalations that aren’t able to be resolved at store level.

It all depends on the manager

If you have a good manager, then it is OK to work for Telus, but if you get a French Quebecois as a manager who is interested only in promoting French people and you are an immigrant, then you got in the wrong place. Of course, you could say that you got the job only for getting some experience knowing that your French colleagues will get the promotion anyways and you will get kicked out no matter how good and hard working you are.
