Good place to work and grow

I was with the company for nearly 15 years. It afforded me a lot of opportunity and room to grow and learn. I can only speak to non-union roles, but the pay is bit on the lower side generally speaking, but benefits are fairly significant. Between year end bonus, health benefits, and various service discounts you can likely add another ~8k to salary. Lots of focus on development and training (at least in the areas I was in). The culture was generally very positive and a huge increase in focus on mental health over the past few years. Toxic management is generally weeded out in one way or another. In 15 years I think I only interacted with a small handful of less than desirable management/executives who were never with the company for terribly long.

mentally and emotionally challenging

a typical day at work included taking phone calls from customers, making sure their profiles were uptodate with current address, phone numbers, while keeping sewcurity measures in place, understanding the customers issue- where it was system issues or physical issues, then making sure the system was preforming at optimum measures troubleshooting the customers problem with strict procedures and practices, making sure the customer was well informed about the action that were being made as well as documenting each action that was taken. making sure the customers issues were resolved either by everything working like it should, or sending out a technician or transfereing the customer to the cvorrect department to fulfill their needs. then actively following up with the customer to make sure their services are working to their liking. what i learned from this job was to be extremely patient with every customer, how to manage my emotions as some customers could become aggressive and rude over the phone. i also learned how to multi-task efficiently as we had alot of programs that were running all at once and we had to make sure everything corresponded with one another. i also learned how to manage my time carefully as customers were not very patient and wanted their problems resolved very quickly. i alo learned how to be thorough and communicate to others the steps i had taken to resolve conflicts in a way that every other agent would be able to follow and understand my work and actions taken. the management was very little at the position because it was in an office call center, -

Good

• Provisioning and maintaining outside plant facilities including aerial and underground buried copper services • Installing, diagnosing and maintaining facilities (POTS) including associated components such as POTS splitters, ADSL and IPTV • Involves customer contact including progress reports, discussing issues and applicable charges • Performing wiring, high quality installation, troubleshooting and repair support for POTS, ADSL • Preparation of the cable for Splicing and Termination. • Splicing Fiber Optic Cable inside the closures • Terminating Fiber Optic Cable in ODF • Testing & commissioning of Fiber Optic Cable by using the required test equipment • Prepare timely field report, work order • Provide test results and necessary documentation in line with customer requirements. • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Fun and living their values in true manner

It is a great work environment with lots of fun. Great upper level management. Company is heading in the right direction with regards to their services. Great recognition by immediate management and making the employees feel valuable assets.

Best training and practice, Friendly management

Work in a customer's house, meet different people everyday. More hours. Good experience. Your daily work is to install internet, TV and phone to the customer's house. Have to travel a lot in a day. It has more freedom, act like owners. Lots to learn.

Awesome job environment, awesome managers

On average you would answer 20 to 30 calls a day, depending on circumstances, and provide customers with basic technical support. They train you enough to do what is required (basic internet/service provider knowledge). The management is truly awesome though. They are there to support you and want you to succeed.

Enjoyable, past paced friendly envorinment.

Creating batch jobs, working at Lendrum Co. & 4 remotes. Running in and removel of jumpers for Pots lines, Adsl, various other functions. Management unfortunately, not the greatest. To many turn-overs for management positions. Of the 23 plus years I worked for Telus, must have had 16 different managers, some with no experience in CSD ( customer solutions delivery). Rarely had the chance to interact with co-workers, although I have trained many over the years. Dealing with assignment issues created within batch jobs. Taking great pride in my day to day work ethics and learning any knew tasks job related.

Team work

Telus Mobility was a great place to work but very demanding. Customer Service is the key, and learning to deal with unhappy people was pinnacle. The co-workers were all wonderful, management was great .

Productive and hands on experience

Installing and repairing phone and DSL lines. I learned a lot about infrastructure of public Central Offices and PBXs. I also learned about cabling and how to install and troubleshoot. I had my own van so I would rarely see co-workers unless we needed to help each other out. Hardest part of this job was being 15ft up a pole in -45 degree weather in Edmonton. Most enjoyable part of the job was seeing different places everyday and coming across interesting issues.

Exciting and Interesting Place to Work

Great place to work but manager was never around and when he was he worked with blinders on and did not see who the TRUE assets to the company were. Favored the "team who were all family related no matter how much they messed up and cost the company thousands of dollars. Other than the manager I enjoyed the work environment.
