Good pay/benefits
Commission was never paid and would take at least 6 months until contracts were registered for target relief so your quota was never real time or accurate
Senior manager was intimidating and insulting which would spread to rest of team resulting in a culture of exclusion and junior high mentality. I wont endorse or recommend a company that allows this type of culture/behaviour

Bad environment, poor values, bad management, micro managing, extremely limited scheduling options, working weekends is mandatory, many attempts to give comp packages to leave job, feelings of dead-end job, tools given are not good enough, large possibility of outsourcing to South America.

No guarantee of a making a career with Employer anymore

This company has been shuffling and restructuring over the past 4 years. They are no longer focused on having there own locally employed field workers anymore. they have been cutting there own employee's out and contracting work out, with the majority of the work contracted to outside employers. Including contracting work to companies outside Canada.
Support for field staff has gone down hill, stress level is high wondering if you will have a job tomorrow or not.
Management is terrible they are not upfront and micro manage from there computers. everyday is a CYA day from start to finish.
The pay is okay, benefits are good, the people you work with directly are okay. Training has gone down hill and so has the quality of the work been done, they don't show any interest in the quality of there new fiber builds.
The executive's of this company are more concerned in showing the numbers to there stake holders then supporting there front line staff..

All Telecom companies are the same when it comes to saving money.They wont spend a lot on the employee.Benefits are normal but salary are low.
They want cheap low paid employees or contractors and expect the best work .

Fun company to work for, if you report to the right manager

The company is relying on their workstyles (offering remote work) to underpay their employees. And there are many who choose to stay because of this. The values promoted by the company are excellent, management based on transparency, developing people, helping communities etc. Except when you have to deal with management style coming from mid-ages where people are just followers, are being told exactly what to do and when to do it and they are not supposed to think or express their point of view. It's unfortunate that the company values are not enforced in every team.

Great company, forward thinking, progressive. If you can't make your mark here with all the opportunities they provide you then you wont make it anywhere. Training is provided throughout your career, the pay is supreme. This is not a short term type job but something you can grow with. There are many different areas to move on to within TELUS. Insincere leadership, and agenda driven union leaves employees feeling abandoned by the both, and caught in the middle. Clear intent to move jobs overseas to lower employment cost countries concern for welfare of local employees is clearly low. KPI and bonus motivated management are insincere.

I really enjoyed the seven years that I worked at TELUS. It was a fun call center environment, where you spend the everyday with the same people around you. The managers were serious when it comes to fulfilling the daily tasks, but they were also friendly and fun to deal with. I first started as a loyalty and retention agent helping the company to retain its customers. I learned a lost of skills in that position, like multi-tasking, problem solving, de-escalating situations, building strong relations with the clients. Then I moved on to become a Helpdesk specialist, helping my previous colleagues with their day-to-day task, their technical problems and any issue they were facing. A fast paced call center environment can be challenging, but it's very fun and rewarding. You become friends with the people you work with, you share good and bad stories and you help each other to improve. Overall it was a great experience.

Good Place To Start your career

Overall this is a good company to start your career in. Most days are hectic which means you need to really manage your life balance. The difficult part of working here is the speed with which change happens...so if you thrive on change this is your place. The people you work with are the best and if you're lucky to be co-located even better. It is more difficult when your team is scattered across the continent though. If this is your first job don't plan to stay more than 5 years or at least seek movement through the company if you are going to stay longer.
