Zero job security

Caught up in the mass layoff I was let go at Christmas. Middle management only care about their career path and push unattainable deadlines on you as a result.Severe lack of tools and training. No direction. Management changes weekly.

Great collogues, can work from home, but a hot mess

Hopefully now that Telus took over, they can clean the mess the last group of executives and managers created. Time will tell. The training department at this time has no idea what they are doing or knowledge. Who is in charge need to open their eyes, instead of ignoring all the problems. They are very out of touch and seem to live in a imaginary world. A lot of people in authority where put in roles cause they where just there at the time. They have no experience or really knowledge. And in most cases these's people are way over worked and important things are missed. Pay is better than before, but still way off. Work load at most times very excessive. For a mental health organization, there is no support, just use are EAP for support. You listen to very hard to hear stories and deal with suicidal clients, but have to just keep taking calls or chats. Yes, you can talk to your manager and take a min to get recomposed. But, after listen to a person freaking out and wanting to kill them selves and maybe others. You need someone more professional to help you deal with what you heard. Burns so many employees out. First responders get a lot of options for support, including contacting us and us given them support. But, really it is very minimal.

It’s project work. You’ll work a crazy amount of hours and then get a layoff. Very high turnover. The work is hazardous and hard. Be prepared to sweat from places you can’t sweat from. 2hrs wearing two chem-suits inside a 40 degree tank standing in 3ft of chemical that’s about 50 degrees breathing 30 degree air, about a half cup of sweat in each glove and boot per rotation inside. Inside the tank itself is a nightmare! Can’t see, can’t hear, breathing under air. Met some great people. You will never have all the information you need. Great money. Promised three weeks of work, got 11days; every project was way shorter than initially told.

Leadership Appears Lost

- Annual (or more frequent) Re-orgs- Vague KPI's/KPI's that shift from quarter to quarter- Lack of accountability- Constant shifts in direction- Lack of understanding of technology sectorThere is a LOT of focus on marketing, with little support seemingly provided to the operational teams, creating an environment that includes a significant amount of back-biting, unfortunately.

Very professional and supportive

TELUS Communications is an amazing organization that offers so many opportunities for career growth and success. The organization is very supportive of a healthy worklife balance and gives so many tools that cater to this. Management is very accessible and easy to approach. My years at TELUS showed me that the environment and potential to make a six figure salary is very good and has a very little turnover rate of employment. The only reason why I left is because I completed my Masters and Doctorate and had an opportunity to work in my field of study. If not, I would have never left.

I enjoyed the work, not the toxic corporate culture.

The job was enjoyable for a while, however in the last several years the company has become very top heavy. Multiple leaders constantly chase multiple goals and metrics which are many times mutually conflicting, leading to indecisive struggle between goals and priorities. Constant downsizing and increased pressurization on front line team members has team morale at an all time low, most can't wait to leave. I really liked the work, but I grew very tired of the corporate culture. Way too many department of redundancy departments.

Too much corporate BS

Very political, management is very kick managing. Good pay, until you cap out. Worked there 13 years and they downsized. Took a package first chance I got

Looks great on paper, but the honeymoon phase doesn’t last lonng

Toxic upper management vs. union employees culture, seasonal layoffs to save $$$ followed by hiring unqualified people at half the salary. Constantly introducing new metrics that don’t follow the job description and punishing long term employees who can’t keep up. Stay far away.

Lost North Star

TELUS, once celebrated for its fantastic work environment, is now facing a bit of a rough patch due to some changes in its middle management. In the past, it was known for nurturing a workplace where creativity thrived and employees felt genuinely appreciated. However, recent shifts in management have clouded this positive atmosphere.Previously, TELUS was all about caring for its employees, empowering them, and sharing a common vision. But now, there seems to be a disconnect between the leadership and the rest of the team. Communication isn't as open as it used to be, and the once-strong sense of teamwork feels like it's slipping away. With the arrival of new middle management, the company's core values seem to have taken a backseat. Decision-making processes have become less transparent, and employees don't feel as involved as they once did. This change has dampened spirits and left many wondering where TELUS is headed. While TELUS still shines in providing top-notch telecommunications services, it's the people who make it truly special. Unless TELUS acts swiftly to get back on track with its original values, it risks losing the heart and soul of its workforce.

Culture has changed

After the 6,000 layoffs in 2023 everyone is stressed and on edge. People think they might be let go at any moment and therefore they are all jockeying to work harder and headed for burn out. No senior leader will push back anymore on workload or asks.

Good Environment

Overall team is good but management has no relationship with the employees.Worked for two years as a contractor. They dont hire full time and pay is less on contracts.

Overall decent experience

Management was a boys club back then. Hopefully that has changed now. Work police culture was great. Probably one of the best I have ever been apart of.

Good company

Too many levels of management. Challenging and time wasted getting approvals. They claim process improvement, they should really look at how they bounce their customers around.

Stressful but good benefits

Overall it is a good company to work for with lots of benefits for employees. High focus on performance management but the support isn't always there.
