Working at TELUS has taught me a lot in terms of my skillset and also how to navigate a highly political, fast-paced environment. While it's progressive in its values, has a flexible work styles program, and offers incredible benefits -- and therefore has been the right employer for me during this period of my life -- I personally have found it too big and too corporate for my taste. The it's a high performing culture and people here seem to have immense reverence for leaders right or wrong, which is not the culture for everyone. A lot of TELUS team members are "lifers", largely because of the benefits and the opportunity to move onto new roles. The titles are confusing... for example, "Business Analyst II" is a hierarchical level and the job title on your offer letter, but your email signature would read otherwise (e.g. Project Manager, Culture and Engagement Manager, Executive Assistant, etc.)

Very corporate and political, frequent org changes, lower than market salaries from what I understand

Don't work as a contractor for TELUS

Contractors almost never get converted to full time employees. They will keep getting you to sign 1 year contracts - sometimes up to 10 years. They don't care about their contractors. As far as they are concerned, you are a just a number. They won't recognize your accomplishments or allow you to participate in the employment survey. You're lucky if they email you about important health information - like COVID19. They are so disorganized that projects last forever and results in really bad crunch crisis. Good luck having a life at TELUS

Very collaborative work environment

Spent 15 years at TELUS and will look back fondly on the time I spent there and the friends I made. The work life balance is excellent and opportunity to work from home or go into the office to work is definitely beneficial.

tech savvy company with high pressure

fully equipped with tech equipment you need to work remotely. very flexible but fast-pace and changing environment. very competitive and stressful, hard to balance life and work sometimes

Good

Excellent variety of work, strong management, amazing culture, little politics, benefits are great. Pay is below industry and bonus is non-existent even if you score highly due to corporate multipliers that always score low despite stellar shareholder returns.

it's a great place to work with. telecommuting is a best way of being productive without worry on traffic and with flexible time we can have work life balance

Hardest part of the job is being micro managed due to lost productivity for 1-2 minute lates. I learned to move up within the company, you must adhere to schedule with no lates or absences within 3 month period.

Amazing work life balance - best employer ever. This is my second stint with TELUS and colleagues become like family. Ability to work from home is second to none.

If only the job had been what had been advertised

A warning to all those out there who apply for a job posting advertising for a specific industry skill set, complete three "tests" and two interviews. You are hired for a really good company, or so you think, only to discover that the job you applied to and was hired for was not the job you were doing. Quit, leave, do not try and make the job "work" out. You will be removed by the end of the year when they complete their annual sweep and get rid of their nasty little hiring practices.

I have nothing but good things to say about working at Telus. It is a large corporation that has been focused on the customer. All progress has been as a result of relentless efforts by staff to improve the customer experience.

Analyze sales and compensation data across various B2B sales channels and forecast trends and challenges, and ensuring the sales incentive plan efficacy. Recommend and implement changes to the corporate sales incentive plan and lead the negotiations with the sales management to ensure compensation is adapted to sales realities and incentivizes desired behaviors.

Productive and Fun Place to Work

A typical day at work would consist of meetings with our client (MOH) and developing operational tables using information from SOWs and SLAs and then populating the tables via quarterly, monthly etc. Creating PPT presentations on a monthly period which provided forecasts for executives - co workers are incredible and very helpful. I enjoyed working for this company!

TELUS is a good company to work for.

There are lots of internal challenges at TELUS due to mergers old systems etc. It is also a very lage company so looses the personal touch. Work life balance is mediocre.I learned alot while working for TELUS through experience internal and external training.

The 4 years I spent working at TELUS were very postive.For the first time, I felt truly empowered to do my job.The TELUS management team I was fortunate to work with both empowered and supported me as an employee and a person. They truly believe in the work-life balance value.I was given the opportunity to learn and grow. In return, I was very happy, when called upon to go the extra mile.My group provided consultng services. We were a team. We celebrated each others' personal (birthdays, anniversaries and births)and professional (promotions ad anniversaries) milestones and we supported each other through adversities (personal loss) and professional challenges.In addition, for employees with young children, TELUS puts on very good Christmas celebration for children. It is usually a play or held at a venue like the Ontario Science Museum. The employees who buy gifts for the children put some thought into the gift buying process. My daughter was usually very pleased with the gift she got.
