I had to deliver 800 cases a day to where they needed to go. You had breathing room really, the breaks felt even shorter because you would have to leave earlier to make sure you finished the pick on time. It was way too high standards.
Well I don't know where to begin... Working for TCL I thought it would be great but boy was I wrong. But its not all bad. Let me start with the good ones. Your workmates (not the management) are great and fun to work with. They are very helpful in many ways, either work-related or just in general. The facilities are adequate. The warehouse itself is new so not so much going on in there. The hours may vary depending on the season. Now to the bad side. First off, the machines. They suck. Not well taken care of. Not enough machine for everyone. TCL is a fast-paced environment, so the pressure is high. But everyone has a limit and that is not allowed in TCL. You have to be superman if you want to work there. And the worst part working in TCL, the managers. The managers (some) are fcked up. All they care about is themselves. They push you to your limits, its exhausting. That happens everyday. They make you work wherever they want even if it is not safe for your body. All injured employees are being "bullied" by the managers by being sarcastic about your injury, they think youre faking it so if youre hurt you just don't bother telling them. I am so glad im out of that place. It is toxic I tell you.
I worked for them for the week of so called training they didn't train for anything you where just expected to race up and down the aisles with the ride on palet jacks and perform like a monkey some guy they hired a week before broke his leg I told the guy training I didn't feel comfortable driving the pallet truck with the training I had apparently gotten it was a 20 min video on how the machine worked apparently that's good enough for these clowns so I told them I was quitting I don't need the stress the safety guy comes and started swearing at me and yelling so I got up and left don't waste your time here these fools are gonna kill someone
Management has a god like complex and gave personal information away to other staff which is very unprofessional and inappropriate. They made you feel like a criminal if you got sick, 3 sick days a year is a ridiculous goal people get sick.Would never work for this company again.
apply if you like physical labour and hard work on a time quota in multi-temp warehousing environment, frequent charity drives, inventive bonuses for shift premiums, freezer work and first aid and lead hand. They train from within and encourage growth!
The "Team Leaders" have no idea what they are doing and the fact that they are often telling their staff different things and then they will get upset and throw the employees under the bus instead of taking personal responsibility for their choices. The time they offer to select the orders is often unbalanced and if you bring it up to management they will make excuses as to why you basically have to "shut up and work faster". They expect their selectors to operate at a percent based production tracker and if they fall bellow 100% they will be written up immediately while reach operators at TCL can build a career without ever hitting their numbers. The union that is supposed to protect and stand up for the workers doesn't. There are several reasons why you should not work here. Just RUN.

If you apply here, be prepared to work your hiney off. They say you have a 3-month probation but in reality, you have 3-4 weeks to reach their goals. Management is pretty friendly, always ready to lend an ear, can be patronizing at times. But God forbid if you go over your break times by a minute. A typical day as an order picker is pre-shift stretches/meeting, you get your MHE and your headset and pick until the orders are done. You handle your own breaks. Be prepared to not have a full 40 hour work week until after probation though. They really use the term 'Flex schedule' loosely. If you're a slow learner, you will struggle. They make it sound easy when they say the system starts at the heaviest boxes to the lightest, but not all heavy boxes will be large to make a stable base and not all light boxes will be small to just easily fit on top. And if you're 5'5" Godspeed to you, because their orders can become 7ft pallets. Most enjoyable part is the solitude. It's just you, your pallets, and your headset barking numbers into your ear. But it is not an easy job for sure. You meet their goals or you're gone, as I found out the hard way. They like to stress how much they're spending to train you, but they won't hesitate to let you go.

Free food sometimes, in-house gym

Inconsistent ideologies, High standards, Must be a high energy athlete or be prepared to be a mule (sarcasm)
Great company to work for. Lots of employee engagement activities. Popcorn day once a week, gym in house, premiums and bonuses for performance, BBQs. The job is physical and a great way to stay in shape and active.
TCL is a great company to work for. Lots of employee engagement, in-house gym. Weekly popcorn day! Free coffee and food on super Sunday’s. Room for movement and advancement. Managers are great to work with, front end staff are always helpful and answer my questions quickly.
tcl is a great company if you feel the urge to work like a mule and earn a low pay. training is minimal, but by far the worst part of the job is having management on top of you to complete the 100 percent they ask of you. even if you are at 99 percent they will be on you for the missing one percent. It is ridiculous how one sick day causes mayham. On the bright side for the ones who want to freeze and only make a dollar extra then man this is the right place for you.

mandatory super sunday, work weekends, work holidays, low pay, minimal training
Training is a joke. 45 minute s on a jack and 3 days in class and im certified. On my "test day", saw my trainer twice in 8 hours. Management seems okay but lack of care is evident. Percentages werent to bad to hit. Nice place, more programs and meetings than hands on experience.
Don't Bother. You get to work like a slave for below industry standards, and get treated like you are scum. You will be replaced as the turnover rate is above 90%, and the training is minimum, you will need to self teach yourself everything.
Thumbs Down.Better To think carefully. For every 5-10 workers hired at least 3-5 person every week disappeared. We know for a fact that they quit or cant work anymore. You will feel very fatigue, stress and always sick that you cant imagine or feel in your entire life. This is my only observation working here.Im not disgracing the company but if they listen to the review they will do more to improve their procedures. You cannot enjoy your life here,Always your sick due to overfatigue,You will work weekends and holiday,Salary not much for the work you will do,Not guarranteed they will give you 40 hours per week coz of they so called FLEX position,Will not recommend to my friends and to other person to work in this company,Better to think not twice but many times to work here,Do some math computation 18/hr times 35-40 hours=1,300 dollars minus what tax ,EI,CPP ,union dues and the greatest part minus broken bone, muscle cramps, overfatigue, stress,Not much difference working a 14-15/hour but guaranteed 40-44 hours per wee CARE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES,AS YOUR EMPLOYEES WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS.Goodluck to the newly hired.
Training is very minimal for the job you will actually be doing and performance is all based on computer generated averages. If you are unable to self-train and meet the requirements you will be let go. Most of the training is standardized global DHL training that isn't relevant to the tasks you will be performing.
Pay is at or below industry standard for the area, and the premiums aren't worth it for those who end up working weekends and off shifts or in the freezer. $8 a day extra for working in -27 for 8 hours or missing your weekend, no thanks.
There are no paid sick days, despite working with and handling food. You do not get any stat holidays off, and your only long weekend will be for Christmas with one extra day off. All shift patterns require you work at least one weekend day(Sun-Thurs, Tues-Sat or 10 hour shifts working Fri-Mon).
There is mandatory overtime, despite the union contract saying that this isn't allowed. Union is very employer friendly and will put the employer's needs above the needs of employees. Everything comes down to the needs of the business, with little regard to the needs of the employees who want to spend time with their families - there is no work life balance at all and more than 3 days missed per quarter, whether it is a call in or unpaid time off requests will result in disciplinary action even for approved time off. They are quick to call mandatory overtime, but will send you home without pay when there is no work left to do even if you need the hours to cover your bills.
Performance based bonuses are an extra $60 every quarterplus... after taxes and rely on the entire team's performance and isn't worth pushing yourself to the breaking point to achieve.
Policies and procedures seem to change weekly - always with the same excuse that this is a start up company and they need time to work out the kinks, despite the sister warehouse in BC having been open for almost 10 years already using the same equipment/software and doing the same job.
Turnover rate for 2016 was 135% which speaks louder than any single review can say for this company.moins
Points positifs
Job security as it is a food warehouse and people will always need to eat.
Points négatifs
No weekends off, no stat holidays off, no paid sick days, high turn over rate
Here you will pick orders or operate machinery and there will be little regard for your safety. No one wants to work here. Management has no concern for their worker's nor do they show any concern for their client's products. The machinery and building are new, but because everyone is miserable and no one cares, everything seems worn down and used. Good workers are often left in the physically demanding roles, while the laziest seem to move up, and get easier jobs.
I enjoyed working for TCL, although I have a few concerns with the management team I learned enough to get my foot in the door of most Warehouse jobs and would like to continue in that environment.
Points positifs
Learning Opportunities, work, hours, commute.
Points négatifs
Management, lack of problem solving or willingness to fix existing issues.
Great people and multicultural place. Respectable company who had team meetings at the beginning of every shift and at our pre-shift meetings we always did a workout before starting work. I also enjoyed how every couple months they did BBQ's for each shift.
Points positifs
Every couple months they provided supper for all shifts.
Lousy place to work. Micro managed by the mickey mouse club. Safety standards are sub par. Supervisors are a joke. they spout off about team playing , yet do everything to undermine any team playing. Dirty. Unsafe. Pallets double stacked in the racking. Some pallets have fallen or have boxes falling down on workers. Training is almost non existant. Rediculas mandatory overtime every week. Union is all about the company not the employees, if you complain to clac.. they call management and tell on the employees. Benefits suck. NO PAID sick time. HUGE staff turnover. Most people are only here til they can find a better place to work. for every 5 hired.. 2 will quit before training is finished.. then 2 more will quit or be fired before their probation is up.
Points positifs
met some nice people
Points négatifs
lousy pay for a lousy job. bare minimum benefits. no paid sick days.
Pick cases fast as possible, i learned how to operate power jacks, safety in workplace, fun co-workers and the hardest part of the job is when its holidays because it too busy and theres a lot of heavy cases to ship.
