TransCanada provides great benefits and compensation. The work life balance is exceptional and overall employee satisfaction is good. However, if you are young in your career and hoping to advance this is not the place. The organization can be rather hierarchical and could still be considered to be an "old boys club". Advancement can often be stalled and getting things moving is exceptionally difficult. This may be common of organizations of this size - changes trying to be implemented have a broad reach and require a great deal of oversight. However, if you are looking to grow in your career and are willing to put in the hours and dedication required to do so the environment here will not reward that.

Unless you are absolutely desperate for a job, I would not recommend anyone work here. The culture and leadership are terrible, there is favoritism throughout the organization, and political objectives are at the forefront of all business decisions. There is an extreme lack of direction from management, which is proven by the most disorganized processes, data and systems I've ever seen. You've been warned.

TransCanada used to be a great employer, however it is now facing several issues. Everyone understands the nature of the industry; the turbulent energy environment, however TC's issue is beyond that. Here is the issue: 1) Constant Layoffs even when the market appears to be stabilizing in 2019, disrupts the whole experience of work and teams 2) Promoting young employees who have been at TC for a fairly long time to management positions is a good idea, "BUT" only if they possess the necessary management skills. Who said someone that has been with TC for 7 or 8 years, can automatically be a good manager? Isn't management a science by itself? 3) There is a side to many O&G companies that many people don't see; The Contractors !!!!! Nowadays many Contractors are brought in, with rates much lower than what a Contractor used to charge, and these people unfortunately will never become Core Full-Time Staff (companies try to control Fixed Costs), and they eventually have to leave the company. 4) TC has a top-down management/culture. This approach can negatively impact employees' originality, destroy their engagement, and eliminate the ability of a company to a just/fair succession plan for each vacant position that comes up (AKA: what others on indeed called "the Old Boys Club Culture") 5) Constant criticism, or in other words "leaders knowingly OR unknowingly undervaluing their employees" is a classic textbook mistake that many leaders make at TC If you are an educated, motivated, and dedicated jobseeker reading my comment, then you want to think this through, - plus...

The work at TC Energy is very fulfilling and the work life balance is fantastic. The down side is the ever rotating door of poorly skilled management between both director and manager levels. Their lack of understanding of the tasks required to do general business undermines performance progress and efficiency for all. In turn this reduces moral and taints what could be a very exceptional place to develop a career.
