Save yourself the time and do not work here

I loved this company for so long when I worked here... but that did not last long. The management will treat you poorly if you ever bring up any issues and every now and then head office will come down to sweet talk. Turnover is high because they do not respect work-life balance and there was constant overtime. Compensation was not worth the headache; no tips. Save yourself the time and apply literally anywhere else. I do love senior care and will continue to work with seniors, but at another company.

I feel like I truly lucked out finding this job. This past year I had the pleasure of covering a maternity leave position for Wellness Associate at Wesbrook Village. There are so many amazing things I can say about this job, but it really comes down to the people you work with. All the employees are amazing, it really feels like a family, everyone says "good morning" and "hello (name)" to one another everyday, everyone knows each other's names across all departments. Moreover, the residents are such a joy to work with. I had previous experience working with older adults and loved it so I knew I would enjoy working with older populations. The residents here are just incredible humans, so many amazing stories and wisdom from a lifetime surrounding you. It is a privilege to work with such inspiring people. In terms of the position of Wellness Associate, it is the dream job. You get to plan, organize and sometimes present in-house and external programing for the residents. There is a lot of flexibility with how you approach the job. Resident suggestions are encouraged and abundant, that being said, you still get the opportunity to focus on your strengths and what you can bring to the residents. For example, I am keen on meditation so I created an 8-week meditation and self-reflection course for the residents that I led. It ended up being a big hit amongst the residents so I ran the course again later in the year over the summer months. This was just one way I had the opportunity to personalize my job and share common interests with residents. All this being said there are always -

Productive and fun working with co workers and the residents

There are always pros and cons in every work place. This includes Tapestry At Wesbrook Village. But This the best place work I have so far. The management is very supportive, salary is good and we are also unionized. I love working with my friends here too.

Nice place to work to...the residents, the management and fellow staff were nice and pleasant...been with the company for five years already and i enjoy working here although there are some challenges at some time but still i am happy and grateful to be working here...i do always look forward for our activities that involve our residents and us staff like our morning glory exercise, our line dancing, pole walking exercise, pumpkin carving, ginger bread house decorating and even just cheering our residents on their seated volleyball tournament...

The team here at Arbutus Walk is just amazing! The best I have ever worked with. It is not easy to find a place where you feel welcome, people are caring, considerate, where everyone is willing to help and is striving for excellence. I found that here. Incredible work environment.Working with seniors is also very rewarding. When you see smiles on their faces even for things you could consider "small", everything makes sense and you feel purposeful.The leadership team is very supportive and opportunities for learning and growing are there to be explored if you are interested and willing.

I worked at Tapestry for 6 years, mostly while going to University. Their priority was always the residents/seniors and the company has strong values around doing the right thing. I was promoted 3 times while working there and benefitted from lots of training and coaching. The health benefits are good and they paid much higher than any job I could find before I finished my degree (and after, actually). I had lots of fun working there and felt like I was making an impact everyday.

Tapestry Arbutus is an amazing place to work with a fun job culture and lots of career advancement opportunities. The best part of my day is making connections with the residents. Working full time, a typical workday for myself could be in the concierge, housekeeping or food and beverage department(s). Management is understanding and incredibly supportive of anyone who expresses their desire to grow in the company. I consider my management team to be some of the best people in the hospitality industry. I have learned so much invaluable knowledge form having the opportunity to work in multiple departments.

The concierge position is the central point of contact for residents, staff and family members. It is busy and interesting - no two work days are the same. My fellow employees are friendly and helpful. All staff greet each other by name. The residents are interesting, lively and so appreciative of any assistance. The best part of this job is helping residents. The management team appreciates of my work. I work part time but I am included in all training and employee recognition. In this fast paced job I have learned to prioritize tasks. Staff from other departments are always willing to help out, if needed. I am given latitude to make my own decisions. I am also given the same training opportunities as full time staff.

Residents and staff were all so warm and welcoming when I started working at Tapestry. I learn something new everyday and I am given the tools to grow at a pace that I am comfortable at. I can choose to challenge myself by dedicating my time to improve the quality of my own work or lend a hand to my colleagues. Everyone is so appreciative of my work which encourages me to give my best effort. The positive, upbeat atmosphere is contagious and I look forward to coming into work everyday.

Management is really bad

Really felt that management had favorites and that white privilege was highly felt. If you are a person of color I wouldn't recommend working for this place. People who don't do the job properly are not reprimanded. Management are very aggressive and unkind even to senior residents. Turnover was so high because no tips or any appreciation was given to any of the servers. Even the turnover of the kitchen staff was high we had a new chef every 3 months or so, a new manager every 4 to 5 months. Don't do it save your self! I'm so glad I left.

I had a chance to join the team here at Wesbrook as a leader over a year ago, and so happy I made this choice. The leadership team here is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure in working with, most importantly the team overall are just amazing. Each day especially now that we are lifting out of Covid protocols, it is such a great feeling to fee the happy energy from our resident, all their families that can visit, and our team who care for each resident as an extended family member.
