Avoid if possibe
Passenger Services Agent (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC15 mars 2019
Standard minimum wage job with little room for advancement. Management don't really care about employees its all about achieving targets. You get a lot of overtime in summer which is the only good thing about the job.
Points positifs
Overtime

Pay scaling is a joke
Baggage Agent (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC8 décembre 2018
You could currently earn more working at McDonald’s (starting wage there is $13/hr, starting here is $12.85).

After 10 years you could move up to $18.77! Isn’t that just so great? Needless to say after two years wasted here I’ll be looking for other jobs.
Points positifs
Stable hours
Points négatifs
No flight benefits, low pay, dirty environment

Favouritsm at it’s Finest
Passenger Service Agent/Flight Coordinator (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC1 août 2018
Initially I had thought I that I landed a great job and am set for a good amount of time. Yes, the job was secure as it was unionized but as for great job? I think otherwise. Although I did learn a lot during my time with the company, and I did make a few great friends whom I’ll miss working with, the company itself definitely isn’t the best and they definitely do not pay their employees what they’re worth. At the same time, some of the people they hire are quite questionable as well.

Management was lacking in all aspects. If you wanted to move up within the company, you basically had to be friends with the right people. For them, it’s favouritsm over capability. It is also a seniority based company, however don’t be surprised if someone of lower seniority gets things in their favour - again, favouritsm at it’s finest. They will find all sorts of ways to bypass rules in their favour and do not take into account things that need to be addressed. Rather, the only issues that do get addressed are only acknowledged if it is in their favour.

Pay is a joke, you might as well work for McDonald’s and get paid the same amount (with less stress on you with how hard they expect you to work at times). Don’t get me wrong, there are moments where there is a lot of downtime (ie waiting for flights to arrive, delays, etc.) however the shifts are usually 4-6 hours max and in order to get 40hrs a week you’d have to do a lot of split shifts. Benefits are great though (but no flight benefits for passenger service agents).

It’s very easy to get stuck with the company because of the security
plus... and how easy it can be sometimes. If you’re looking to have a bright and fruitful future however, this is definitely not the company to stay with. I will say that it is a great stepping stone to get into other companies within the airport, but there are many other entry level companies with higher pay that are good as well.  moins

potentially great place to work always something new to do or learn.
Manager on Duty (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC3 mars 2018
Swissport is a very large company world wide but the management style has to change or they will continue to lose ground to their competition who have made great gains lately . As a large company they have potential for advancement and innovation but these things seem to not be their priority and it shows in the lose of business to other companies.
Points positifs
large company with chances for advancement
Points négatifs
long hours with not much chance to change .

Union Job
o Ramp Agent (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC14 octobre 2017
Swissport is part of a union and this means that the salary is competitive for labor and that you do not get overworked and stressed. Working there was fantastic and they even extended me to a student line when i had gone back to school which rarely happens.

Just a ** nvironment to work at
Ramp Agent (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC26 août 2017
You're expected to work like robots all day. Seniority rules so most the time you'll be working with snior guys who'll ** you over by making you do all the work while they sit back. Some days you probably wont even get a break.
no more flight benefits either.
Worst part was that you have to wait 1 year to get medical benefits which sucks considering the fact the we work our back off.
Points positifs
A lot of overtime.
Points négatifs
Everything else

Very busy and stressful. You have to get used to working in a fast-paced environment. The union is good at protecting you if you do not mess up big time.

An easy place to get lost in
Passenger Service Agent (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC15 octobre 2016
If you enjoy providing good customer service, and interaction with other people, you'd enjoy this job.

You can easily make friends with your coworkers as you are working in a team oriented environment. The job does require you to be quick on your feet, and manage information quickly. However, everyday feels like a job well done when you watch that plane take off knowing you've personally met some of its passengers.
