Not the best workplace

Avis en vedette

L'avis le plus utile, sélectionné par Indeed
If you are someone who needs to constantly be moving around & staying productive, then a cashier position is not for you. Staff and customers are rude. Staff only acknowledge you if you pick up some extra shifts, otherwise you’re just another employee to them. No good morning, hello, great job today. Horrible communication on what’s going on in the store. Very unorganized.

Points positifs

Discount

Points négatifs

Rude customers

Very poor Management, no communication between management and colleagues.

Very poor management, they don't believe they should be compassionate or treat their employees with respect. Their way of managment is to be intimidating, unreasonable and have none to little training in their position. Employee turnover rate is extremely high.

Points positifs

Flexible hrs

Points négatifs

High employee turnover rate, poor management, treated like a number, not as a person.

Good place to work

Problem is only its a part time job most of the time, no enough money for living cost,I asked them to extend my hour shift but nothing happened..overall it is a good and known place to work.

If you have any responsibilities outside of work, dont bother

At Superstore, theres something called "Restricted hours", and "Unrestricted hours". Restricted means you are unable to work certain hours/days of the week. Unrestricted means you can work anytime of the week. When you are restricted, you are given 4-8 hours a week. 12 if you are SUPER lucky. This allows NO room for any responsibilities outside of work, if you're looking for anything more than two 4 hour shifts a week. Even if you have to give up a few hours on a sunday for religious purposes, this brings you from 24 hr/week down to 8 hr/week. Superstore sets an incredibly ridiculous expectation where, either you give ALL your time, or none of your time. Very unprofessional, and ignorant regarding peoples personal lives.Managers sometimes tell you "You dont sound sick" when you call in to let them know you arent able to work a certain day.Supervisors are a hit or miss. How a work day will go really depends on who's working. Either the day will be laid back and chill, or you'll be scolded for going to the bathroom, which speaks for itself. Often customers are more understanding and comforting than the supervisors. In summary, if you're a student, dont expect too much support here. The useless union fees take away over 10% of your paycheck (sometimes 20%, depending on how much they decide to take from you -_- ). Most of the fellow cashiers are very nice, but some of them clearly hate their jobs. Dont bother interacting with the grumpy ones.

Points positifs

Snacks in the break room (sometimes), coworkers can be cool

Points négatifs

Unfair restrictions, rude managers

managment doesn't communicate

When I first started working at the superstore in London, Ontario it was a great place to work! I've been working there for a year now and I moved up pretty quick from cashier to a high responsiblilty position then supervisor. if you make one mistake that you didn't mean to do, management will not give you a warning they will punish you. management does NOT communicate with there colleagues and blames employees for the mistakes even though they never got proper training. The only reason why I stayed is because the people who I worked with, the cashiers and supervisors are very nice. All I can say if you want depression this the the place to get it.

Points positifs

discount, friendly staff, diverse

Points négatifs

management does not communicate at all, toxic workplace, COVID-19 protocols were never followed when busy

Not a good place to start

Managers at location often stood around and gossiped. Cashiers were never fully trained. Customers were often rude. Managers and supervisors were not helpful at all during rush

Points négatifs

Not professional

Stressful and busy with not a lot of support

Physically and mentally harder than one may think, don't always feel supported. Pay is not enough to live on (minimum wage)Most people you work with are friendly but as with any job there can be personality conflicts.I do enjoy working with the public but don't always have time to feel like you are giving people the attention they are looking for.

Points positifs

Working with public

Points négatifs

Low pay

Horrible place to work at

Management is rude and picks their favourites.Do not appreciate the regular employes. The pay is not worth it especially during the pandemic. If you want your face drugged through the mad feel free to apply at Superstore.

Points positifs

none

Points négatifs

rude management, small pay, a lot of unhappy customers

Cashier job pretty easy

first time doing cashier. I was very hesitant about being a cashier. But super simple. A lot of people there to help you. Everybody is nice. The store can get pretty full but you take your time with customers because there are like 10 more cashiers. I get a decent amount of shifts for a highschool student which is (15-20 hrs). The hardest part of the job is probably the customers and standing up for so long your back starts to hurt lol. A typical day is clocking in, going to your assigned cash register and start scanning people out.The most enjoyable part of the job is how easy it is I guess and sometimes when the store isn't busy I can go on my phone until a customer comes. And the people I work with are very nice

Points positifs

Help if needed, good pay

Points négatifs

busy hours, annoying customers

Hires Anyone, terrible management, ignorant staff

Superstore will hire anyone who walks in the door. The supervisors have no experience and managers have no clue what they are doing. Constantly getting scolded for mistakes they never taught us about. I feel bad for all the new people they hire. Miserable experience.

Points positifs

Paid breaks, employee discount after 6 months.

Points négatifs

Horrible management, grumpy employees, too many cons to count.

flexible schedule but they barely give any hours

The schedule is flexible so your day off requests are always approved but they barely give any hours to existing employees and instead keep hiring new people. Management will also keep calling you in on your days off and then yell at you for not picking up shifts. The hardest part of the job is annoying entitled customers and the most enjoyable part is going home.

Points positifs

flexible schedule i guess

Points négatifs

everything else

Points négatifs

Good coworkers

Co-workers are great and management is good. The pay is fair and you get a good mix of work and life. This is a good job for college or high school students.

Good People

The people I worked with made the job as enjoyable as it could be. Managers and supervisors were helpful and always available. Coworkers were usually near by and always willing to help. Fast paced, especially on the weekends, but usually in a good way.

Fast paced, very flexible

A shift at the Superstore goes by fast on a weekend during the day as it stays fairly steady with long line ups. Evening or weekday shifts are normally fairly slow paced and can be boring, but you can keep yourself busy by cleaning your work space or restocking the items at your cash. They are extremely flexible with regards to students in high school or university, I was able to request time off to study for my university exams without any difficulties. Its fairly easy to get someone to cover your shift if you are in need and the staff is friendly.

It was fast-pasted

You needed to learn the produce codes really quickly and be able to stand long hours during the day. You have to be aware of your surroundings and be able to have customer services skills.

The worst company to work for.

No respect for each, playing favorites, bulling from management. Por management. Very stressful to work for. If they dont like you they will pick on you about anything and everything.

Horrible place to work.

All the management is concerned with is the ring time you are able to achieve. The only way to move up is to kiss managements butt. If ill, the management will give you a very hard time, they do not believe any of the staff.
Avez-vous trouvé cet avis utile?

Very flexible and not stressful, very collaborative

Superstore is a great place to work for a stress-free job that is willing to accommodate to your schedule as they are very understanding. They train you very well and always offer help if needed on the job

Productive workplace but at the expense of employee comfort

Good relationships with other employees. Workers were asked to stand for 8 hours minimum at a time with minimal to no breaks. employers were strict but otherwise nice.
