This has been the worst experience as a new nurse, they only give you 3-5 shifts at orientation and expect you to be as good as the nurses that worked their for years. Meditechs are a joke (psw's that can give medications LOL) think they know it all and are going to complain about you no matter how much effort you put into your work. VERY TOXIC COWORKERS, run while you can.
Most enjoyable part of my day was spending time with my coworkers and residents it was also the hardest part of the job because the days were busy and finding time to spend extra moments with my residents was hard. The management want you to run to them immediately when they call even if it impacts the residents negatively. You get put onto floor with little trainings on lifts. When raising concerns to the care coordinator she gets mean with raised voice and she holds a grudge. It’s all about money, it’s so sad. I learned that I really enjoy doing care but that I needed to work in a more supportive environment that focused on quality of care and valued me as an employee.
Poor management, staff is bombarded with work, short staffed almost always, residents are being treated poorly regardless of the money they put out to the facility, coworkers don't have teamwork and some are super bossy and does not help you at all, management does little to help you with schedules, concerns and issues, most of all abuse is going on by staff to residents so beware!
