the day would start by, taking relief from previous shift. checking your unit you are assigned to. Read and go over permits for the new day and looking for anything un safe. Reading daily directives, make work requests. Checking my area always. The plant was very large, we produced from the area called upgrader two, it produced about 280K of refined oil. Any delay was costly. This made for some times difficult challenging times.
Great place to work with plenty of advancement. Family orientated work atmosphere would recommend to any one looking for a rewarding career. Co workers are great.
It is a fun place to work on a daily basis. There is always lots to learn. The management is inexperience. The culture is safety first. the hardest part of the job is to get there. The most enjoyable part is working with your guys to complete a challenging task.
Suncor overall is a good company to work for. There are lots of good people that really work at getting things done. If only the management of the company would take a step back listen and implement what the workers are suggesting it would be a much more efficient and productive company.
Performing daily duties and rounds while maintaining a stable performance in the plant was quite enjoyable and challenging at times. You learn to take action in emergencies, or from other operators or sometimes have to delegate work. The best part was learning new systems and trying to troubleshoot when problems arose.
