Amazing customer-focused company. However, some roles are very demanding. Unfortunately, the quality of manager and leadership you can vary greatly depending on your role and department. Some are very supportive and helpful, some aren't. The bad ones will make you want to leave a great company very quickly.

A very challenging workplace every day with handling client calls for reviews and sales of financial and insurance products. Very nice management. Technology needs to be more user friendly

I originally was working in the Toronto office and I had to move to the US due to personal reasons, otherwise I would have never left. The hours are fabulous, you get to pick a shift that works for your schedule. Management and all the leadership is super helpful and ready to make sure you get promoted if you work hard enough. The culture is great! Teams are competitive, yet very positive.

My time at Sun Life was great as it was a fun place to work where everyone got along and was treated like family. There were daily and quarterly quotas to meet but as long as you did what was expected, those number were not hard to meet. The hardest part of the job was dealing with irate or miserable people on the phone as the job was very heavily based on making outbound calls.

You are expected to sell to family and friends. It is a commission based job so there are months where you do well and other months where you barely scrape by. There is a lot of pressure from management to sell a lot of products to its very intense and stressful. They always sweet talk you to get you into the office and start work. After that the sales managers start backing away as they are busy recruiting new members. The turn over is quite high.

Large call centre team where agents are required to assist terminated or retired member. Agents must upsell to members with additional products.

Prospecting began everyday to build one's own client base. Managed existing clients with follow ups and reviews, talking about products and services they may not have yet. My co-workers were great people and a pleasure to work with. The hardest part of the job was the prospecting, which also is the most enjoyable and rewarding part of the job as well.

I acquired a great deal of knowledge and experience in this role. As well as relationship building and influencing skills. The exposure to a wide variety of wealth, income and insurance products adds to my experience within the financial industry. My co-workers definitely made this a great place to work. One of the challenges was to analyze and educate clients not well versed with investment products and principles however, it was the most rewarding when i succeeded in breaking these barriers. I am happy to say that my success rate in such cases was quite high (95%). The most enjoyable part of the job was helping clients with their investments and the successful partnership created in these interactions resulted in ongoing consultative transactions.
