Its a nice culture and they really care about their employees. A great place to work. Its been a wonderful fit for me and lots of opportunity to move around.

The work environment is highly toxic and it depends on who you know. HR is not independent in handling reported cases of manager mentally “abusing” staff even with supporting evidence. The executive leadership has been campaigning mental health at workplace this year, but none of it is enforceable. Manager has the power and sole authority to be unreasonable in their ask of you. For example, making it impossible for you to take time off to the point of you having to forfeit your allotted vacation days and using performance evaluation as the leverage. HR does absolutely nothing but work for the management.

Overall supportive environment and plenty of opportunities for lateral moves to expand business knowledge / exposure. At times older systems can be hindrance for new projects but that's typical of large FS.

lots of misleading statements. So be aware that they do not care for you and will only help if and when you are producing. Young new advisors recieve barely any help and from the get go you are thrown into the lions den. Be prepared to work long hours for little pay.

This company is the complete opposite of a healthy, positive and supporting environment.When I was first hired, I was promised multiple and fast growth opportunities. The manager who hired me was set up by a group of people acting as a mafia in the company, pinned something on him and got him fired.The remaining manager who I reported to directly, stole multiple ideas of mine during interviews for other roles, only to find out later that the positions were either canceled due to 'funding shortage' or position was filled in Montreal.This company is filled with sneaky and fake people and I do not recommend working here or even dealing in business with them.

- during the interview stage, managers were late arriving and seemed very distracted. Kept repeating how busy they were. - no orientation - employees are set up to fail. Information that is vital to your job is not shared and only revealed after your work is completed. Your work is then ripped apart. - manager watched the clock to ensure you were at your assigned desk no matter what level or how much extra time you worked Just an overall a really bad experience - so disappointing but have moved on to better.

I worked on the digital team and the employees were great to work with, very helpful, but my manager scrutinized every step i took. I was pretty new on the team, but was expected to learn the new CMS they used within the first 2 weeks. It's very fast-paced, stressful, and no lenience or work/life balance available. Wellness days/mental health days are not offered anymore and management doesn't seem to care about the wellness of their employees, they just want the job done and fast.

SLF tries to see itself as a competitive company with good pay and rewards it’s employees. From my experience they will make you work on so many projects that doesn’t seem to fit your job description. They will give you projects that belong to other employees and when you’ve accomplished the tasks that has never been done before, and you train all colleagues, you are not recognized for it. Instead the employees whom you’ve trained reaps the reward of your training and they get promoted. All high severity issues are handed to me as the team are unable to do it. This company will take you for all you’ve got and they will not appreciate it. SLF hires junior level employees to save money.

My experience on a scale of 1-10 would be 3. My overall experience interacting with the manager and CMC has been negative. CMC is extremely critical and the manager does what the CMC dictates. Together they create an unbearable work environment

Great location and many great people to work with. We the North Supporters! They have ice cream days and food truck days. Good employee moral attempts.

Management is not very tolerant with employees, too much micro managing. Sunlife must rethink who is promoted and if they're a people person or just a Sunlife person.
