Nice people to work with, but unstable work hours

It is next to impossible to get a raise at Stong's. It is a unionized workplace and raises are dependent on hours worked rather than on skill. People have been there for 20 years and get paid way more than they should be entitled to because they are lazier in general and very comfortable with their positions and not open to change. The younger newer workers get bossed around by the higher seniority employees and are overworked, and get no benefits unlike the senior employees. Work hours are also not guaranteed. You could work anywhere between 4 and 40 hours in a week with no stable patterns from week to week. Management listens well, but unfortunately due to strict union rules, there isn't a lot of wiggle room for a lot of things.

Genuinely nice, caring people work there though. Is perfect for students or as a first job. There is some room for advancement within the company and they love to promote from within (but these opportunities are very limited and don't come around often).

Raises are not earned they are given based on how much you work, They play favourites, Scheduling issues, Hours per week are not guaranteed, No benefits, 10% off $50+ purchase but everything is very expensive

Worst company I have ever worked for

Poorly managed, never appreciated employees - cared more about corporate greed. Gave poor direction and communication to department managers and expected department managers to manage a second location with the same wage, which led to all department managers quitting within a year of working for the company - which says something! Everyone I know that worked for the company hated their jobs and said they would never go back, the workplace was so toxic. The hardest part of my job was never being appreciated for all the hard work I did building my department and increasing sales. The only thing I learned is how NOT to run a business.

Overrated and unappreciated

Understaffed, under trained, high stress and more expectations then your job title is stated. The reviews on here I belief have been fabricated as this place is anything but a stop to your next job. The appearance from the outside looks put together but once you start working there you will see a different picture. Request of days off are frequently forgotten, posting of schedules are last minute. The environment is quite toxic with a an extremely high turn over, with the only people starting are staff that are bitter and stuck there due to high wages on old union contracts, most people are hired and unaware of there rights as a union member and the employer constantly has to be reminded.
