Coworkers are very friendly but it is also a competitive environment. Everything is focused on sales. Management helps to close leads and constantly gives advice on how to approach customers on the floor and get new leads.
Points positifs
Flexible Work Hours
Points négatifs
Limited Sales opportunities

Doesn't take care of great employees, so they all end up leaving.

Rude front desks, irresponsible head office, mediocre trainers, rusty old broken machines.

Poor management, constantly switching managers around all clubs.Management lack managing skills. Play favorism. Most of high management are hired in the US and transfered here

Upper management talk to you like you are 4 years old. Doesn't know anything deep about marketing and sales, all they know is yell at you when the number doesn't hit goal.

They pay you min wage, like actual min wage. for hours where you're at the gym "trying to get clients".

then once you get them to come in for an assessment (which you're still only paid minimum wage for) you have to present to them a standard presentation with slides and be a sales person (even though there's a sales team).. save yourself some time, work somewhere else.

they get you to pay for your own uniform (pretty common), buy your own business cards, you can only wear black pants and runners.

they take a third of your personal training session cost.

during the pandemic, they basically fired everyone that wasn't executive. and there was no compensation and they dont pay out vacation time.

working over 12 hours isnt uncommon and you'll only get paid for 6. some days you wont even come in. some days you'll only work 2 hours and best case, that's with clients, otherwise it's min wage. you have to clean up the gym and if you're a girl get guys hitting on you, if you're a guy then get other guys judging you for not looking like a bull on steroids. there's a reason the turnover rate is higher than the pastries in a bakery.

they only care about how much the company is making and if you're not making enough you could get fired.

you also need to sell supplements (even though they taste bad) and you need to know everything about them. if you dont hit the minimums for personal training AND supplements.

TLDR; expect to work ridiculously long hours, not get compensated for anything, basically working for a pyramid scheme company.

I admire that it’s the most terrible workplace that I have ever seen in my whole life with lots of negative pressure. And lots of missed hours paid in your pay-check.

Loved my time working for Steve Nash Kitsilano. We had an amazing team when I first stared and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity they provided me with. Nothing but great things to say.

Nash is a great place to work when you are starting off as a new PT. They offer tons of continued education, teach you the in's and out of the business and can set you up with the tools you need to either move up in the company or move on and open your own business. It is a challenging environment but so are most training jobs where your making a good living. Overall if you are just starting out as a trainer with little experience this is a good place to start.

Excellent support and training provided to achieve success in a role that requires you to continually 'get hired' by club members/clients. Suitable for someone who loves health and fitness, and wants to develop their skills in enrolling club members in themselves, their lives, their fitness. Sales training is excellent and the continued push to grow your own business was welcome. When you get skilled in this role, it no longer feels like sales, you are literally just helping people get what they want in their life, health, and fitness.
Points positifs
ongoing training and support, management is 100% for your success; bonus food provided to staff for bigger events, and celebration based events were provided and funded by upper level management, opportunity to meet and learn from CEO and Board members.
Points négatifs
long hours required to achieve success, not for everyone

Working here only makes me feels like a salesman not a trainer. All they care about is hitting the sales goal for training package and supplements, employees and clients are not the priority. If you don't hit the sales goal manager will be constantly trash talking and assuming your doing a bad job as a trainer or not doing anything at all.
Also they expect you to stay in the gym and work without pay to get more clients even if you don't have any shifts.

I finally left the job respectively and still got banned from being a member there even when I didn't violate any policy at all, which proves how shady, unprofessional and hypercritical they are.
Points positifs
Friendly co-workers, potential to make good earnings.
Points négatifs
Only care about sales numbers not the clients. Shady and hypercritical management.

sales are prioritised before customer service, have to sell steve Nash brand supplements to qualify for commission. upper management encourages extremely pushy sales tactics. If you hit your sales goals they will be increased the following month.

working as a trainer at steve nash was awful. Management did not care for you at all, if you didn't make a sale you would get in trouble & make you feel like awful since fitness managers are very pushy , putting in long hours (say goodbye to your social life) for no recognition, constantly making phone calls and talking to people on the floor since you have to book 5 evals a day and you could never make management happy no matter how hard you worked. Working for this company ruined my passion and drive for fitness and also not very understanding when you have a family emergency happen and wouldn't let you take the afternoon off.
I stood of for myself and got yelled at and when i quit on the spot i soon later found out i am banned from Steve Nash for life.
Points positifs
nothing
Points négatifs
poor management, pushy, rude / cocky staff members, draining, long hours, very high expectations

Good culture if your lucky to have a good club management team. You can have job security as long as you make them money. There is lots of room for advancement because of high turnover. Upper management only cares about money, they would rather you live in the gym and forget about everything else. If your interested in sales at any cost then apply. If you care about people stay clear of this company.
Points positifs
Can meet some great members and staff before they eventually leave
Points négatifs
Upper management, no ethics

Good place to work but extremely difficult to find balance with work and outside relationships. They are pretty flexible with hours. Good place to gain experience with pretty much working on your own.

It's all about the company.
It's all about exploiting young people keeness.

You will learn a lot and when the time comes, move on.

Their system isn't fair for the trainers and the members, at least financially, it's highway abuse.
Points positifs
Experience that will give you skills.
Points négatifs
You are going to be exploited to the bones.

Felt like another number. The min wage aspect was unappealing, yet can make decent money if you can build your business quickly. Lots of pressure for hitting sales goals. The team is great, but, again, it feels like you don't matter except for the dollar value you bring in
Points positifs
great people, mentoring
Points négatifs
Long hours, min wage, high-pressure sales

Company made me lose my passion for personal training by making it more about the $ ampunt I was bringing in for them rather than the client and their needs.
I left to pursue other opportunities and work for myself as an independent trainer. I would not work for this company again

Points positifs

No job security, poor wage, minimal hours, high expectations. The insanely high turnover rate of the staff at any given Steve Nash location is indicative of some major issues that never seem to be addressed.
Points positifs
lots of job training
Points négatifs
can't make a living there

helping clients is the most rewarding aspect of the job and interacting with many talented, dedicated coworkers. the culture promotes having fun while at work, but it's an absolute soul-suck sometimes. they are quite demanding when it comes to hitting sales targets and booking appointments so if you have time to invest in that and no life outside of the gym, it might not be so bad for you. there isn't much coaching from the top down so it's mainly stress to hit targets propagating from one level to the next. not all managers are terrible, but there are a few that are absolutely stellar.
Points positifs
gym usage, discount on personal training sessions, staff discounts on athletic wear
Points négatifs
demanding, high expectations, sales-oriented

I've worked at Steve Nash for over a year, and it was a fantastic experience. Very energetic work environment and you get to set your own schedule which is great for me.
Though there is no base salary and all the work hours depends on your sales. So not the most stable job but if you are great at sales then the salary is good.
Points positifs
Fitness work enviornment
Points négatifs
Sales
