This company is very unfair. If you left a former job with them, they have 0 intention to let you work under a different job title. I did Dietary for years with them and recieved my PSW certificate and they were not having it. They refused the advancement to me. The retirement homes pay barely nothing more then minimum wage. HR is difficult to connect with!
If you quit (even on good terms) you are placed on a do not hire List preventing you from working in other homes . Management is utter trash . They are only in it for the money
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP No extra pay for its staff working the front lines- in the home with the virus- in the home risking the virus- double work load because of Covid 19 precautions....meanwhile big wigs from Head Office get to sit at home. Benefits low; declines if your partner has a pre existing condition. No Christmas bonus. They are very reluctant to give out OT. "Fyll time " is less than 30 hours a week Bullies in management yet get rehired on as casual workers? Head Office sucks... if a bully is getting to you...instead of oubjshing said bully they want to force you in a room to work it out with them? Very aggressive towards union.. general non compliant .puts out memos about how much you are appreciated by no pay increase due to covid 19 Just overall cheap.. there is some good things like paid sick says minus the stupid 4th day rule... loyalty awards every 5 years ... but mostly bandaid to cover up how cheap the home is If you are available they will work you like a dig.. 20+ days in a row no problem...
Appearances can be deceptive. Behind the polished veneer the forced staff fun, staggeringly high executive salaries. Pretty shady goings-on with this company. Workplace harassment, bullying by management and co-workers to litigious behavior of the worst kind, it pays to do your research before jumping into this company. Be prepared to kiss up HR and the CEO to keep your job. Given the number of lawsuits S & R has been hit with over recent years including several by former employees, I can only advise you to give this place a giant swerve.

high turnover with perma ads looking for staff usually hiring out of desperation , very toxic place to work if you are full time , it really does wear you down
Very poor wages, minimum wage paid and workload very high. Executive director is a micromanager, talks down to you and intimidates you. When you go above and beyond your " job title" you are NOT appreciated! No management support and union is a joke! My suggestion is go apply somewhere else where ever it maybe , you will make a better wage flipping burgers at Burger King
Older staff are rude. Lots of work hard on the body...Management doesn't care if you work short which happens way too much.. PSW ratio 1-13 ...Benefits only for full time staff...
Management is all about the funding not for the staff
You can DEFINITELY tell that a lot of the people working in the kitchen there care more about their jobs than the residents. Everything is VERY rushed. No time to chat with residents or ask how they enjoyed their meals, barely enough time to do the job let alone anything "extra" like taking the time to chat with a resident while serving oatmeal. plus side - only kitchen I've worked in that actually let's us take heat breaks in the Summer. The food they serve the residents is great food but they need to hire someone extra to reduce the workload of the dietary aides to allow them to take their time just a little bit more with the residents.
Starting the day check for full garbage cans and replace with empty one's check work orders that are design for my job duties then proceed to work on the work orders. enjoying helping the tenants working the mechanical problems they have in their units. I see no hard part of my job ,just challenging some days Did not realize that I was mechanical incline Management staff is very supportive to their workers.

No growth for advancement
