I've done this as a job to take care of my family. It serves a good purpose in that regard. I've made a lot of good relationships there with customers and partners.

if you're going to work for a big corporation, this is one of the best. they don't do a lot of the shady things other big companies do, and they really do want to take care of their employees. benefits are hard to beat, but pay could be better. they've committed to increasing pay across the board, and once that happens, it will be much more competitive pay. i make more than most as a shift, but it's a pretty stressful job for only 9 or 10 an hour. i've seen people comment that starbucks doesn't allow room for growth, but i've found this to be very untrue. as long as you make your goals and intentions clear, they will make opportunities for you to get there. if you want to be a shift, let your store manager know; don't wait for it to fall in your lap. if you've worked there and worked hard for six months and feel like you're worth more than 10 an hour, ask for a raise. the worst they can do is say no. in my experience, if you're communicative and transparent, they will value you for it.

Horrible management, great benefits. Not valued as an employee. Constantly understaffed. No flexibility. Stressful work environment in a drive thru. No value for employees.

Poor management on the retail level....Extremely poor training at the barista and shift supervisor level. Promotion confusion and indifference from the area management level!!!!

A typical day was going into work knowing I’d be insanely stressed for my 9.50$ an hour pay. It was severe under paying for the amount of stuff we have to put up with with customers, and honestly it’s clear the company didn’t really care.

I was a barista and barista trainer, and while work could often be fun and making customer connections was nice, overall $10 an hour is hard to live on and other companies such as Whole Foods and Target have higher starting wages.

I loved this job. Yes, retail can be stressful during the holidays and working with people is always a mixed bag. However, in nearly every location I worked at (and I worked at 5 stores, in addition to taking shifts at other locations) the team really comes together to support each other and cheer each other on. Many of my closest friends are people I met at this job even though I left 6 years ago. And you'll make many friends of customers as well. I met amazing, inspiring and wonderful people across the counter every day. Working with people was honestly one of my favorite aspects of this job and can be a real highlight. You will make great friends and it's also a great opportunity to network. The learning curve is fast-paced but if you pay attention, you'll get it in no time flat. There are great employee benefits in addition to your standard (health, dental etc.) Like tuition assistance, discounts for many services and retail stores etc. There are health incentive programs, charitable giving matches and community service opportunities, etc. Also also loads of learning outlets if you want to learn more about aspects of the industry. If you work barista or supervisor positions you also get weekly tips.

Great benefits and fair pay. But the work life balance wasn't the best. And the DM for my district cut hours unnecessarily for her bonus while leaving managers and baristas stressed out.

When I first got hired, I was so happy because it was my first real job and I really want to get better at it. As time moved on, I started to become more depressed. I wasn’t happy being near customers as I communicate with them and I’ll usually get tired of speaking to my manager and some shift supervisors. I’m usually a person who’s good at either roles. I just wish my manager would see that potential in me instead of putting me to one section every single day that I end up taking a shift there willingly out of my time. At the end of the day, it’s just get tiring because you don’t get the same treat compared to other partners. Starbucks pay is decent but I feel like this job is overrated and overpriced to be treating their partners poorly. Even with a raise, you’re going to need a second job to pay the bills. Starbucks doesn’t include pandemic bonuses on our paychecks compared to workplaces like Walmart. Overall, starbucks isn’t worth the job to be having hours 11.25 per week and working minimum wage.

Special treatment to other partners, lack of pay, short hours unless you request for more, management view on new partners (especially minors), complete disregard to the amount of hours. for example, i stated to manager i’m free friday, saturday, sunday, and monday and management puts me on schedule for 2/4 out of those days (less hour, less pay)

Cool and laid back. Nice job for those who are young or still in school. Starbucks at any location is typically nice, laid back and cool.

The customer is always right, even when they are clearly wrong. Starbucks has a culture of tasting coffee and selling coffee and expensive sugary drinks. While I was working there they consistently added to my workload without adding to my compensation. It can be a good first job, as they will pay for a degree, but as I already had a degree they wouldn't pay for school.

Hours flexible great benefits package. Great training. A lot of information and details to learn in a short period of time. Not all locations are the same and it’s almost like having completely different jobs working from store to store.

Not consistent by all means but what is during these times. Great place to work if you like coffee and gossip! Most baristas talk horribly about customers and are two faced to the customers.
