Your Experience Will Vary

Each store will be different based on management. Some stores are well run, but most are not and have glaring issues. The job and company itself aren't horrible, the tasks are not overreaching and compensation is fair considering the position. For a part-time gig at a good store its a fantastic job, full-time at a "problem" store you will be miserable. Growth potential is often a popularity contest or promotions will be dangled in front of you in order to get you to make your job your top priority. Most stores have some sort of cattiness or drama because of this. The largest problem currently is externally hired managers are thrown into a crash course of every role and expected to run a store perfectly, however they are often grossly incompetent, micromanaging and often will try to run a store per the standards while disregarding company and store culture. One store may be laidback yet the one down the street is a nightmare to work at. Turnover of managers is somewhat high, however shifts and baristas stick around once you get the hang of it.The job itself is great for students with lots of flexibility (again dependant on your managers interpretation of "standards") and I've made some lifelong friends with co-workers. Don't expect great training from the company though. Its usually just some videos, a couple shadow shifts and then your thrown into things. If your hours don't meet your needs you can drop/pick up within the store or throughout the city. Don't count on full-time hours though, supervisors are at most scheduled 38-39.5 hrs/week, baristas 32-36. In order to -

Points positifs

Free coffee, great benefit plan, amazing coworkers, usually quite flexible with schedules, great support during COVID

Points négatifs

Understaffed stores, toxic management, inconsistent hours, subpar training, hard to move up past supervisor without selling your soul, some unrealistic/constantly changing expectations

Such a fun workplace

If you are looking for a part time job while in school or full time summer job or a second job for some extra money, Starbucks is such a fun place to work at.Making drinks, having fun with coworkers, making connections with people is all you have to do while at work.During peak hours it gets extreme busy, but if your team leader has a plan then it wouldn't be hard.If your management is good and supportive then its the best workplace. Most enjoyable part is when you have fun while making drinks.

Points positifs

Free drinks, free coffee beans, heath care and tuition reimbursement

Points négatifs

At some places management fails and does not support you enough

Barista/ Shift Supervisor

I have been an on and off employee with Starbucks since 2014. I have always loved my time with the company until the most recent time. It had nothing to do with the store that I was at, rather it was the direction the company was going in a whole. I miss the focus on brewed coffee and lattes. It is a direction of cold drinks, frappuccino's, satisfying tik tok customers and cup launches quarterly. That being said, I love the culture, the warmth, the environment, the customers, the baristas, the management and all my time as a partner. If I could afford to live off of the wage I was receiving, I would still be there.

Points positifs

Partner discount, family culture

Points négatifs

Long, hard hours, Non-consistent schedule

Low wage, unprofessional management

If you like being just another # to a company/ management then Starbucks is the place for you! Fast paced and stressful during peak hours. Job was posted as a full time position, as it was in the interview. Once accepted the position, management informed me that, only the Store Manager & Assistant manager are guaranteed full time hours. The company can stress how much they appreciate their employees, yet you are essentially treated as just another number. Management would cut hours, and say there wasn’t enough to go around; and would then hire multiple people. Reducing hours further.

Points positifs

Free coffee

Points négatifs

No Income security. Minimum wage, little to no hours, unprofessional management
