-You learn through the success and failure of the team. -Learned general warehouse operations and how to operate shop equipment. -Management was lacking in communication with general operations, but the intentions were good. -The workplace culture was changing often due to high turnover rates. - The hardest part of the job was not being able to go home until the job was done. -The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the team to achieve the goal.

Everything is great except salary is a limited one with steps. If you reached step 5 which is 18:50$,there is no chance that salary will be raised after this. No promotions etc. After all its great place with good management and nice people

I learned a lot from staples. It comes in professional category. Everyday there was a new challenge to achieve and you will get rewarded for that. Management is doing great, to make the store growing. They always appreciate for your efforts. Salary is low.

I love the people which who I worked. But the balance salary/effort was bad. It was really a rough experience, but I will always remember the friends I met.

Not a bad place to work as far as the company itself. It really does depend on the location you work at. Staples is an exciting company with a lot of changes happening. With change comes a lot of people who do not like change and a somewhat stressful and not positive environment at store level.

Staples was a very structured company with great supportive head office.Unfortunately due to online purchase popularity in recent years they started to struggle financially that followed by unrealistic expectations and extreme pressure on stores and management team.They made many changes to stay afloat but most of them had negative impact on the store moral including changing store structure and eliminating a few key positions, promoting unqualified associates to supervisor position with lot of power and no accountability. At the same time they delighted all other responsibilities to managers whom already had a lot on their plate.This change caused lots of problems for managers and destroyed team work spirit in the stores.Managers have no control over associates to the extent that they even can't ask an associate or superior for example working in the Tech. Department merchandise since it's not part of their job any more, that left the the store with over 30 associates to be filled,priced and maintained by 2 to 3 associates only. Managers have to work around 45 to 50 hours per week in the store just to catch up and do all other duties including writing associate reviews,monthly business plan, reading and responding to lot of emails on their time off and if raised any concerns or asked for help the only answer you get is that you are a manager and need to manage your time also you are not allowed to punch in or out. The head office also became very unresponsive to store requests,before they were obligated to responde in 24 hours and find a solution in 3 days,that doesn't exist - plus...

I started this job in my latter years of highschool into my first College year when I left. The job provides excellent knowledge on products especially those who are in the tech roles and enjoy those types of products. Managment always felt new, with new policies and procedures that are easily lived-through but frustrating especially when its always more work same pay.

We were expected little more than to sell sell sell, and build up rapport with customers. Which was easily done, and not at all shady. I was just disappointed that I was discouraged from properly solving customer problems, with emphasis put on "Band-aid solutions". I was there to bring customers back, not get them what they wanted. Edit: The managers I had were later let go due to bad sales practices... So good on Staples Corporate!

It was my first job in Canada. As a full-time student I had not much time left to work, so they gave me mostly the weekends. I was very helpful during my college, but now I am seeking something that pays better.

Is was a part time job but I was an Temp. Stocking Associate which the company which location & met some friendly people & was an easy job to work at.

So I worked there for a handful of years. Worked in several stores, and was promoted a few times, even took a demotion when I moved across the country. The quality of work seemed to change dramatically from location to location. I had worked with management and GM's who were FANTASTIC - best manager's ive worked with to date. I also have worked for management that was utterly useless in application. I left the company due to management essentially pushing me out the door by having unreasonable requirements, that actually negatively impacted how I dealt with customers, and were unwilling to listen when you mentioned this fact. Head office used to be pretty lax about stuff, we used to be able to bend the rules slightly... Now, they want cookie cutter stores where everything is 100% identical to eachother. I used to be one of the top sales people in the district. Since then I'd lost my passion for sales, with more and more metrics and robotic conversations being expected of me each day.

No two days are the same, benefits package was pretty comprehensive, discounts on tech is always nice.

Ok place to start in a retail environment. Learn your customer service skills before you move on. Benefits are great. Opportunites to expand knowledge through vendor courses

Good company overall to work with, No stability in Management. Company going through major changes and makeovers. Wage is ok to survive but hard to work somewhere else with staples as of work timings.

A typical day at work involves replenishment of stock, updating inventory, printing price tags, effectively merchandising stock to drive sales and dealing with customers to find the items they require. It also involves answering product related questions and providing knowledgable feedback. We have a wonderful workplace culture, with supportive management and friendly co-workers. The hardest part of the job is dealing with frustrated customers. On a personal level I find the low wages difficult to accept when the company is doing so well, our increases are performance based but locked in at a maximum of 4%. So even when you exceed expectations on a review you can never reach the maximum threshold for your position due to this maximum set level of increase. The most enjoyable part of the job is excelling at what you do and knowing that you have added value to the customers overall shopping experience.

Stress through the roof, management always on my back, get better or else, the managers are not trained to manage people. They are good at sales, lets make them managers.

Required to help customers with 100% care. Many different roles available from retail store and no retail stores. Min wage paying position and very low wage increases.

Great place to get started in the workforce. Probably not a long term place to work unless you move up quickly to your desired needs. Not much in terms of benefits unless you are a full time employee or have worked with them for a number of years though.

At the location I am at, you can show up after your shift starts and the management will barely bat an eye. If your part time you can just do the minimum and keep your job, if your full time you have to cover what was not done by the part time staff. Hours are being cut back, but, Do more for Less. The management is lacking from the top down, and yet they management wonders why they have poor engagement out of the staff who feel under valued.
