I do not feel comfortable leaving a review on this company so here is some filler text to fill this box because the site won't let me continue without doing so.
Corporate really needs to get out of the stores business, low hours, not enough staff, low pay, but good benefits. Management is horrible, Overall a great job for people just starting out or are still in school.
freindly staff, benefits
no hrs for part time people

Management was very strict, provided little freedom, had strict sales goals with no benefit for the employee to reach, and would push as much work as they could on employees as a cost savings method to avoid hiring more employees. Taking time off for school (even final exams) was almost impossible. Overall I feel for a part time job for a student, this is a horrible option because of how little the upper level management generally cares about its employees, and how they are willing to shirk all responsibility and force you to work longer hours, punish you for being 1 minute late from returning from break (exactly what happened to me twice), and just an overall high stress work environment compared to what was originally stated in the job description
Pressure, pressure, pressure. Toxic environment to work in. Management has gone down. They don’t do what they say they would. Long hours, little pay. They pay their tech guys min. Wage and expect the world from their people.
Low wages, high expectations, poor management
The workplace environment is friendly and positive. There is lots of opportunity for advancement within the company. The staff and managers are always eager to help. Working for this company has been amazing. The pay as well as commission is well above what I anticipated it to be. Overall a wonderful place to work.
Most of the time no matter where you will be yelled at for not selling something the customer does't want. I get it it's sales and I was one of the top sellers in the Edmonton/Northern Alberta district and only rewards we would get it a $25 Gift card to STAPLES. Very unfair company you won't be moving up and Staples is dying a lot.
Easy to book days off
Everything, treated badly and many locations and the list goes on.
Staples provided me with a great place to begin my work career in Canada, the people that work there is essentially what makes the place so fantastic to work. Management is amazing, they are always there when needed. Everyone has a sense of camaraderie. At the end of the day, it is still a retail chain, and it boils down tot he customers you meet. You have days where you have customers who can make your day or break it.
The managers were bullies and did not care for the employees. they use to treat us like dirt and did not stay truthful to there words when it came to offering employees time off. I have been told that numerous people have quit and left for a better work life.
I have certainly improved my customer service skills and advanced in retail sales as technology sales representative. Staples training program has proven itself to be very effective.
constant improvement and learning
worked here for 9 months. was constantly verbally abused by my manager. favortism runs rampant here. they didnt pay me for my last pay. Filed a complaint with the nova scotia labour board
good co workers
management would rather insult you than encourage you.
Staples was a great job. It allowed me to utilize the skills I already had to help others. Customer service is a field in which I enjoy working. I learned how to deal with customers who were upset and how to rectify said issue. The technology department taught me a lot on the latest products, which in turn would allow me to assist customers with any questions they may have. The repair depot also taught me how to work through problems with pc hardware and software. A skill that will forever be useful.
Great work environment
Not enough hours
Stock the shelves. Place received merchandise on the floor. Using scanners to know how much product we have of a certain item. Learned about Staples Canada, on what they carry and the different services they offer. Learned about technology and office furniture.
