Very fast paced, can be stressful dealing with customers. I have learned a lot in my years at Staples however the job I currently have I don’t receive adequate pay as I do all duties that Managers perform.

The does not appreciate the talent and doesnot help for growth with in the company. If they hire new talent, they would pay more but not to a loyal company employee. Management not cooperative. Work culture is good, you will enjoy working with colleagues. Company does not offer great benefits compared to other similar retailers.

As a manager or service supervisor my job is to be available on the floor for more then 30 employees. Have access to most of things in the store, key holder,and open and close the store by myself make sure everyone sing out and in on time and opening and closing duties has been done.

I was managing three departments so there was a lot to learn and I was lucky I had good training but it was rushed. I loved the staff but they were all fed up with all the work they had to do. I had so much to do in my role that I had a tough time helping them. I enjoyed helping customers and luckily, they have a good attitude toward keeping customers happy. I hated standing at the front while on manager-on-duty shift as I couldn't do my work or help staff...only direct customers.

It was a very enjoyable place to work. Team members were fantastic. Manager has a hard time keeping his mouth shut about personal things that are talked about in confidence

I learned a lot especially as an outside hire. The recent transformation of the company has led to many positive changes. A typical day would consist of checking metrics, seeing what goals we're meeting and who requires coaching where. Following that, there are a number of reports that need to be done to ensure protocol is being followed. I also need to check with any changes that have come in overnight and ensure the team is in the know. A number of hours are also spent on the sales floor ensuring the store is kept at very high standards, that stock levels are constantly met (reaching out to vendors when needed) and keeping it clean. Meeting our loyal customers and reaching out to connect with any new businesses in the area to see what we can do to create a relationship from which both parties benefits is a key part of the position. I also take part in the hiring process. I work closely with our technician and oversee work done on customers computers. The position itself is fairly demanding but also rewarding. I have learned a lot about both the company and myself over the last few years working here. The company has fairly good benefits and the workplace culture can vary from location to location, but on the whole, it's generally positive.

I enjoyed working in both the technology and copy centre because I got to fully utilize my skills as a multi tasker. I also got to exercise my sales skills and build on my knowledge of technology which providing customer with an exceptional experience.

I was head hunted by talent acquisition and accepted a position for services supervisor. After a month of not being trained or even filling out government paperwork i quit. I havent received my final paycheck yet after 2 weeks and not a single person has returned my phone calls. If you want to work for a company who doesnt follow through on promises and fails to file proper paperwork then work for them.

It's a domain where everyday can present a different challenge. There's so many skills that I have amassed from just working with my team and learning from a multitude of experiences. Change in high level management caused adjustments periods to new policies and procedures but, overall smooth.

Depends on the location, some are better and more structured than others because Staples are going through transitions (ie branch at univeristy ave). Their vision and goal looks promising if its pushed through all locations.

I love to assist customers resolve their issues- ranging from helping them to use the copy machines to getting their computers fixed. I love the fast paced environment of the store. I enjoy working with our passionate and knowledgeable staff- they are absolutely fantastic.

great place to work at. lots of opportunities for further development in the company for a capable person. good management system still improving. nice co-workers to work with. sometimes too much pressure and tight deadlines build mental tensions but management is helpful. fun working environment. its a great staples family where every district and store have healthy competitions running.

busy days, long shifts, management was always good to listen and help. hardest part of the job was how my general manager volintold me to do a lot of things like raffles and setting up events which is fine, But when i have told them i have enough to do and explained what i had to do the just shrugged and said that sucks.

Friendly and enjoyable working environment with a great set of managers and associates. Focus is on employee development from head office to store level. One challenging aspect is not having a set schedule for week to week.

It is a retail business and as such the wage is average and there is no real job security. It is more suited to a younger range of employees.

The work is decent, but they don't pay very well and the current mangers there are terrible to work with. The politics within the company aren't very tolerable either. Try to stay in line if you decide to work here.

Staples is a very good company to work with. The pay at staples is not much appreciative. The management is the best management team you can find.

I was a Supervisor for almost a year. I liked the hours and days that I was scheduled. The management is not supportive of the supervisors, even though you're still a manager it doesn't feel like it. There's a lot of micro managing and my manager told me that I needed to figure the job out for myself not to ask her how to do something ( there are video's but not a lot of one on one). They don't like it if you ask a lot of questions and not a lot of patience. I really didn't have a good experience there. I was a store manager for almost 10 years so I know how to properly train staff, be compassionate and have respect to others especially when they're new. I wouldn't go back.

great flexible work schedules very little job advancement possibilities majority of store associates working full time hours but with a Part Time titles so that they are not entitled to full benefits great for students though
