I've worked at Staples for just over a year now and its been a great experience. Not only is the staff understanding and helpful, but they are also very fun to work with as well!

The management at Corporate has no clue what happens at store level. Corporate says they support the staff but they don't its all about the money. No one is ever held accountable for their actions. Don't believe them when they tell you that you can advance through the ranks in this company, simply not true.

Wasnt a great job, the hours were low and the pay was low, It would be a great starter job because the work is easy and does not require much prior knowledge or experience

People who work there are nice, management mostly good, customer who shop are needy. Doesn't take long to learn the ins and outs of the job. Managers sometimes are lost and have conflicting directions

typical day is only sales driven i learned they don't care about work hour flexibility management will only treat you as a number every other competitor will pay more

If you want to get started in retail this is the place to go. Easy to get hired and easy to move around within the company once in the door. Lots of opportunity to learn printing services, tech services and general merchandise. Management was a bit confused and was going through a lot of turn over.

Busy days with employee shortages. Management is organized, helpful and motivating. The enjoyable part of the job is recognition from the superiors and providing the heartiest of customer service and their feedbacks. unfortunately, the same can not be said for all the employees there which in turn sometimes makes the work harder.

To give you an idea of where I was when I was finally employed by this dear company here, I had applied to every job within a 20km radius for the past month before I decided to settle on an unpaid internship here. I was disappointed, but I hustled, and I hustled my way into full-time summer employment in a month! My managers, god bless their souls, had their eyes on me 24/7, not an ounce of hard work was lost on them! End of the day, I had to quit in October of to pursue higher grades, but I miss this place to this day! In fact, I'm currently pursuing a return to a different Staple's location! WIsh me luck!

There is so much to learn by working at Staples, to this day, I'm surprised at all the skills I picked up with the help of my manager(s) & team. I would've loved to stay, but unfortunately, I don't get paid enough to cover rent, so I must bid this lovely job farewell.

I did 3 years working different shifts at the print Hub at Staples. What made me leave was their new policy with regard to hiring and the management. The old policy was to hire internally from the retail stores so that there would be a base level of competency of how to operate the various printers there, and to know what the company's standards were. Instead the new management started hiring through some recruiters - these employees had very poor English skills, struggled to use our online system, and struggled with basic computer skills. The new management also displayed clear favouritism toward newer employees who weren't familiar with how things were done. Advancement within the company was no longer an option for me.

Working for staples was perfect example of working for a large corporation the doesnt value you as an employee. Your hours are inconsistent schedule to schedule. The training was bare minimum from management. The supervisors never seem to talk to each other.

Working at staples was a feel good job. I loved helping people find what they wanted. A few months into working I was put into the technology portion where I knew absolutely nothing. I was never properly trained, so I had to teach myself. Supervisors were usually never to be seen if I had questions, they only butted in if I was in the process of a big sale where they would harass the customer on adding onto the already big sale. This would usually tick off the customer and ruin their whole experience. If you’re not going to properly train me, don’t come behind me and try to take over my sale. However, this doesn’t matter because there is not commission on sales ( no clue why ). After a year, I was awarded with a insane 15 cent raise, which awarded all my hard work. 15 cents does not make a difference, and is not what will make an employee want to stay. Overall, I had a decent experience working at staples, but management needs to change. Not saying all managers and supervisors were terrible, because I had a good relationship with a few, but to the others...

Was okay. Not a bad place to work as far as the company itself. It really does depend on the location you work at. Staples is an exciting company with a lot of changes happening. With change comes a lot of people who do not like change and a somewhat stressful and not positive environment at store level.

You will not advance here. Extremely poor pay for the excessive workload and responsibility. Without proper training, the expectation is that you will work in every department in the store. You can be selling a computer one minute and then scrubbing the toilet the next....not even joking as janitorial duties are now part of the new “working and learning company”. You will be written up for not meeting their “goals”.....selling overpriced services smart people won’t pay for. Unqualified management and high turnover rates. Management talks badly about employees behind their backs to other employees, creating a toxic work environment. You can get a good job anywhere else for the same pay and a lot less headaches. Avoid this company because in spite of what they tell you, they really don’t care about their employees at all. They operate in terms of “if you don’t like it, there’s the door”.

Unexpected job duties not attainable -during a shift -hi demand to cover other areas of store your not trained on -no training modules of any kind -not happy environment was not for me

I have good experience working at Staples. The management was great. Work environment was good too. Management was supportive. I recommend this place to work for sure.

If you want to be overworked with minimum pay then this is the place for you. They will bully you until you quit if they have no reason to fire you and if you make a complaint, they will tell you to quit if you are that unhappy rather than deal with the issue at hand. In addition one of the managers always snaps their figures at you, puts their hands in your face mid conversation and screams at you from across the store. They are the most selfish management team and they don't care about the well being of the workers but only how good they look on paper.

I found management at staples to be inclusive and other staff to be engaging. Even though I was only seasonal the management seemed to take an interest in me and my other co-workers.

The company is in a transitionary phase where they're not exactly sure what kind of a business they want to be. Depending on the kind of person you are this could be a benefit or a drawback.
