STAPLES in Saskatoon was a good place to work. The managers were pretty reasonable and I got along well with my coworkers. Sometimes it could be stressful, especially when dealing with impatient or irascible customers, or during BTS (Back to School) season. Also the wages weren't great--they started me at just about minimum wage from what I remember. But as I was only working part-time while going to school that was fine for me.
Good coworkers, managers, generally fun work
Weird hours, pay wasn't great
I was a Business Development Manager for 2 years. All territories to meet same KPI #s regardless of potential. Competition in this area was extreme. You also compete with 2 other Staples divisions. Pay and benefits are decent but if you can’t meet KPI your out in 3 months or so. Management is good they do seem to empathize but will make decisions that can really adversely effect your business.
Pay, Team, morale
Stressful, Competitive, helplessness
If you're in high school I would suggest staples because of their flexible work hours, especially during the summer when it is back to school season when they need the most help. The wage and raises are not so good. Any other retail job would give better raises.

My time at Staples was enjoyed, but I had to leave as it conflicted with my casual hours job at St. Paul's Hospital. For most part, we helped customers find the supplies they needed and kept stock on the shelves. In the Copy Centre, the atmosphere generated from the work environment and customers grew difficult. Customers at the Copy Centre were more unsteady in comparison to the other departments. Overall the staff were nice and most customers we decent.
Good atmosphere for the most part, good first job
Poor pay, low benefits, agitated customers can be common
i Learned a lot at staples, Stocking, operating cash register, returning items, Merchandising and customer service. Scanning of items and fill the home location of each item. work on software to print out of stock tags for empty locations.
