Well I hope you have a strong back, lots of lifting is in your future at Staples. The pay is ok for what is required of you at this position. Work hard go home get up do it again, just please be ca of your back is tough work consistently carrying 50 pound boxes of copy paper up multiple flights of stairs.

it's fun and learn and growing company

I'm working for staples about 4years and half, honestly I LOVE STAPLES, it's great company to learn and grow and having nice management.HR always support us for small to big issues and try to help us and resolve it,

Staples is good company to work for if you are starting out your career. It is a company driven by processes and results. You will get all the tools needed in order to perform your duties.

Not the most organized place to work

Working at Staples will feel like a chore once you get past training.TRAINING: Training itself, is a lot to take in but the trainer does try to add some fun to it. It is nerve racking the first time you deal with customers and are not 100% sure how to run the systems, but they do have individuals there to help you.After the first part of training is done, you are on the floor taking calls which is pretty straight forward but can get very repetitive.After a few weeks, you go back to training for Print and Marketing (Staples Copy & Print) which is more complicated. You are only able to see very basic information about customers orders. Anything more complex, you will need to reach out to CSHD (Customer Service Help Desk)Once training is done you are somewhat on your own (at least it will feel that way at the start) but the managers and supervisors are there at the start (If they tell you something once remember it, they will get annoyed if you repeat inquiries more than twice)SHIFTS: Beware of shifts sometimes (Hours are 7:30am - 8pm) if you get multiple consecutive shifts, email your manager with the inquiryPAY: Pay is not the greatest (after taxes approx $13.50 - $14.00 an hour) sometimes it does not seem worth it for the volume of calls you may take in a day. Calls at times seem like they do not stop (You WILL feel like you are alone on phones even though management says you are not)WORK/LIFE BALANCE: Is average at best, especially if you have an early shift. Beware, if you have a shift from 11:30am - 8pm, the work life balance combo goes out the window, and all -

good woth working

it was good overall. minimum pay rate. staff was good and coordinated. salary on time...... not much support provided though... learning and fast paced environment.

Working at staples Canada

I am an optimist person. Hard working, dependable, honest, helpful and trustful. My experience at staples was really unforgettable. We had a great management team with great experience. We did learn by lot of challenges such as meeting the daily target on certain products which were on promotions.

Overall it was a good place to work. Unfortunately there was not a lot of job oppurtunities in the particular department that I was in so there was not a lot of job flexibility

Race to the bottom

I did 3 years working different shifts at the print Hub at Staples. What made me leave was their new policy with regard to hiring and the management. The old policy was to hire internally from the retail stores so that there would be a base level of competency of how to operate the various printers there, and to know what the company's standards were. Instead the new management started hiring through some recruiters - these employees had very poor English skills, struggled to use our online system, and struggled with basic computer skills. The new management also displayed clear favouritism toward newer employees who weren't familiar with how things were done. Advancement within the company was no longer an option for me.

Great stepping stone

The only good thing about Staples is their employees. The contact centre managers are slimy and constantly finding ways to try and make themselves relevant by micro managing everything you do. The turn over rate was low only because they were on a hiring freeze. BEWARE: no manager there is actually looking out for your best interest, do not let them hold you back from excelling!

Not organized

Staples sells itself in a positive light until you get out of training. The workplace is disorganized, catty, biased and childish. Management is incapable and out of touch. They should not be in charge of large groups, let alone a call center. They do not understand the business or their employees. Not worth $14.25 an hour.

Horrible people and place to work

They make promises to promote to get you to work hard and when you do they dont give you the credit you deserve poor management and supervisors I was promised a higher position and never got it

Too much pressure for a job that pays too little

Horrible management, they pressure you with targets that arent achievable plus its a graphic design job with zero creativity chance but a 100% sales. If you have any questions with any issues, sooner or later they are gonna tell u to stop bothering them and not ask too many questions.

Great place to work for work-life balance. Don't expect high salaries.

Lots of metrics to meet. Slow to change processes. Not agile enough as an organization. The company is trying hard to change. Management still have a very traditional view on leadership and how subordinates should work. Asking for succession planning or growth prospects is viewed as a 'millennial' ask. Huge emphasis on experience.

Great place to work

I've worked 14 years at Staples. Its a great company, a good place to work, grow and learn. Its like my second home. I would recommend this company to anyone.
