Really Nice Place to work
I worked at the South Surrey / White Rock location and it was a really nice place to work. The managers were nice and actually treated you like an actual person/ equal rather then only talking to you to tell you to do something. Customers were decent and Managers backed you rather then the customer in almost all scenarios. They would only back the customer if you were only actually in the wrong. My team was also really amazing and I liked showing up to work because of who my coworkers were, we all always organized events to do together as friends. Overall amazing place to work even though Staples doesn't have good discount benefits for there employees. You will really like your team and managers at this location.

Amazing Manager and Team at this location
We were expected little more than to sell sell sell, and build up rapport with customers. Which was easily done, and not at all shady. I was just disappointed that I was discouraged from properly solving customer problems, with emphasis put on "Band-aid solutions". I was there to bring customers back, not get them what they wanted. Edit: The managers I had were later let go due to bad sales practices... So good on Staples Corporate!
Great Benefits, and Training Opportunities.
Had bad Managers, but they left
Odds are you will be paid minimum wage and no commissions for the technology sales position. Depending of your manager, there could be a bit of stress to sell warranties and other services with the products you sell. You will do a lot of restocking and changing the aisle when it's necessary. After 3 months of employment, you could choose to pay around 6 dollars every paycheck for medical and dental plan. With a limit of a 1,000$ a year, I've barely paid anything for visiting the dentist for the past 2 years. Overall, it's not a hellish place to work like KFC, and the workers at my location are fun to work with.
10-15% discount on merchandise, decent dental/medical plan.
No commission and min. wage
When I first started at staples, it really wasn’t that bad. The manager was a little strict, but the store I was at was in a bad state, and she did what she had to in order to improve the store. Then, after about two months working there (she was hired mere days before she hired me), she was sent to a different staples location, supposedly because she had done so well at ours. The next manager we got was awful. She had NO management experience and practically ran the store into the ground. Myself and many fellow employees (including two supervisors) submitted negative reviews of her to head office, as she was constantly having to send people home mid-shift, cut back on hours etc. Of good employees because the store was doing so poorly financially, but head office did nothing. She was also mean to employees, not in a you-need-to-work-harder way, but in a personal way: when I finally resigned due to stress and lack of hours, she said “oh good, you’re finally quitting.” She also drove away MANY customers by harassing them, and I had customers complain to me, a cashier, about my manager on almost a daily basis. Head office doesn’t care about any of its employees, and for what is likely to be a minimum wage job, it’s just not worth it.
10-15% employee discount
